Atrial FibrillationHypertension7 moreSome patients with a long history of AF develops PH "reactive" type with an increase in pulmonary vascular resistance due to vasoconstriction or structural changes of the vascular wall. RFA PVI + RFA GP is the "gold standard" in the treatment of patients with persistent AF, do not respond to optimal therapy. The rear area of the pulmonary artery bifurcation is adjacent to the roof and part of the front of the left atrium. In the projection of this area are ganglionic plexus of the left atrium, the sympathetic nerve fibers of the pulmonary artery and baroreceptors main pulmonary artery.Recent studies have shown that radiofrequency denervation of the pulmonary artery improves the quality of life in patients with PH.

Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Detection and Management of Metabolic Syndrome in Patients With Mental...
HyperlipidemiaDiabetes1 moreThe study was a 12-month, multi-centered, quasi-experimental design to assess point-of-care (POCT) screening/monitoring of subjects on antipsychotic agents for metabolic syndrome. Subjects were also randomized to either an Extended Treatment Group (ETG) defined by receiving comprehensive medication management (CMM) pharmacist interventions or a Usual Treatment Group (UTG) receiving no CMM interventions. All subjects were recruited from three community mental health clinic settings in Minnesota.

Clinical Trial to Assess the Effects of Low-fat Dairy on Systolic Blood Pressure
HypertensionThe purpose of this study is to determine if increased consumption of low-fat dairy can reduce blood pressure and improve endothelial function in men and women with pre or stage-1 hypertension.

Hybrid Blood Pressure Monitor Validation
Essential HypertensionAssessment of the accuracy of a Blood Pressure Measuring Device with a digital display-column, NISSEI DM 3000, according to an adaptation of the "European Society of Hypertension International Protocol Revision 2010 for the Validation of Blood Pressure Measuring Devices in Adults".

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Pulmonary Perfusion
Pulmonary HypertensionPulmonary hypertension is a rare severe disease leading to cardiac insufficiency. Treatment depends on the severity of the disease. This study evaluates cardiac MRI for the assessment of pulmonary hypertension severity and identification of parameters useful for the follow-up in order to adapt the medical treatment to status of the patient. Evaluate if cardiac MRI can obviate right cardiac catheterization in the follow-up.

Effects of Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker Compared With Diuretics in High-risk Hypertensive Patients...
Essential HypertensionThe aim of the study is to investigate the optimized treatment strategy of hypertension, so as to make more patients to reach the blood pressure goals and to reduce cardio-cerebrovascular events. Objective and Methods: Patients are eligible for inclusion in the study if they are essential hypertension, 50-79 years of age with at least one cardiovascular risk factor and sign the informed consent forms. This project is a multi-centre, prospective randomized,,openlabel blind-endpoint evaluation controlled (PROBE) trial. 12000 patients will be randomly assigned to either of low-dose Amlodipine+Telmisartan group or Amlodipine+ diuretics group. Among those patients with serum cholesterol between 4.0-6.1mmol/L, they will be also randomized into small dose of statin-based regimen or standard management regimen; Patients will also randomly assigned to intensive lifestyle intervention group or standard intervention group according to the community area where the patients in.

The Autonomic Nervous System and Obesity
OBESITYHYPERTENSION2 moreIn its simplest terms, obesity is the results of a positive balance between food intake and energy expenditure (EE). I.e., we take in more energy, in the form of food, than we expend, e.g., by exercise. In our sedentary society, resting EE accounts for most of total energy expenditure. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS, the one that produces adrenaline) is thought to contribute to resting EE. This conclusion is based on experiments where resting EE is decreased by beta-blockers, high blood pressure medicines that block only one aspect of the sympathetic nervous system. The investigators propose to use a different approach, by using a medication called trimethaphan that produces transient withdrawal of the autonomic nervous system. The investigators will then compare the measured resting EE before and after SNS withdraw and quantify the degree of contribution to the resting EE by the SNS and delineate differences between healthy normal, healthy obese, and patients with autonomic dysfunctions.

The Chinese Mutation Hotspot of ENaC Causing Liddle's Syndrome and the Association of ENaC Variations...
HypertensionThe variations of ENaC have an impact on the degradation of epithelial sodium channels and sodium reabsorption, and thus are associated with hypertension and hypokalemia. Liddle's syndrome is a rare monogenic form of autosomal-dominant hypertension caused by truncating or missense mutations in the C-termini of epithelial sodium channel β- or γ-subunit encoded by SCNN1B or SCNN1G. Our purpose is to determine the hotspot of mutation causing Chinese Liddle's syndrome. The second purpose is to determine wether the polymorphisms of ENaC are associated with hypertension in Chinese. Some polymorphisms of ENaC associated with hypertension may be genetic risk factors for Chinese hypertension.

Acute Exposure of Simulated Hypoxia on ECG and Non-invasive Blood Pressure
Pulmonary HypertensionRandomized crossover trial in patients with Pulmonary Hypertension (PAH, CTEPH) to assess the acute response to simulated altitude (FIO2: 15.1% = equivalent to 2500m above sea level) on ECG repolarizations and non-invasive blood pressure measurements by Finapres® NOVA Technology.
