A Combinatorial Biomarker for Infection Diagnosis in Children

Respiratory Tract InfectionsFever

To describe the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, therapy, and treatment outcomes of patients in whom the combination biomarker BV (combination of TRAIL, IP-10, and CRP) is used, and to compare them with control patients without BV measurement. Secondary objectives: Qualitative evaluation of indication as well as adherence to the test result. Comparison of antimicrobial therapy, performed diagnostics, hospitalization, and outcomes between patients with high BV score (bacterial) and patients with low BV score (viral).

Evaluation of the Prevalence of Oral HPV Infection in Patients Who Are Positive to the PAP-test...

HPV Infection

The present cross-sectional study aims to assess the prevalence and type distribution of oral HPV infection in PAP-test-positive women aged ≥18 years. The means used in the present study will be the use of anamnestic questionnaires and exfoliative cytology tests at predetermined oral mucosal sites (lingual belly and dorsum, palate, and buccal mucosa).

User-friendly HIV Testing and Counseling Services

HIV InfectionsSexually Transmitted Infection3 more

Multicenter cohort study of individuals reporting behavioral risks of HIV acquisition, recruited among those presenting for testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Overarching goal: to study factors associated with uptake of HIV prevention and (re)testing services in medium-sized cities in Thailand. Primary objective: To estimate the incidence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (syphilis, chronic hepatitis B and C) among individuals presenting for retesting. Secondary objectives: To evaluate the uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis To assess retention in the study To evaluate client HIV knowledge To describe HIV prevalence and characteristics of individuals newly diagnosed with HIV To describe characteristics of individuals at risk of HIV infection To assess the quality of the testing and referral services.

KIDney Injury in Times of COVID-19 (KIDCOV)

SARS-CoV InfectionCovid193 more

There is an unmet need to evaluate the impact of sub-clinical/mild COVID19 disease in the outpatient setting on prevalent and incident renal injury, as this data is currently unavailable. To capture the diversity of race/ethnic risk and COVID19 related municipal shelter-in-place guidance, the investigators will enroll COVID19-negative and COVID19-positive samples balanced by race/ethnicity from 3 different states, California, Michigan, and Illinois. Study endpoints will be assayed from urine samples mailed to the study team at 2, 6, and 12 months after their date of PCR test, with no requirement for these individuals to leave their homes to participate.

Risk Factors, Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Acute Infection With Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)...

Corona Virus InfectionPediatric Cancer2 more

Patient are being asked to provide respiratory and blood samples for a clinical research study because the patients have a virus called the novel coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2, that causes the disease known as Covid-19. Investigators do not know a lot about this virus, including all the ways it travels from person to person. Investigators also do not know if a person will get sick or not from the virus after being in close contact with someone who has the virus. Because of this, investigators are performing research on the virus found in respiratory secretions to get more information on how investigators can best detect and treat this new virus in the future. Primary Objective To determine the clinical characteristics and outcomes of Covid-19 in children. To characterize the clinical risk factors of Covid-19 in children.. Secondary Objectives To characterize the immunological risk factors and serologic response to SARS-CoV-2 infection in children.- To evaluate the duration of viral shedding in children. To evaluate the duration of SARS-CoV-2 viral shedding in children. Exploratory Objective
