Anesthesia Lumbar Puncture In Children

Spinal PunctureAnesthesia

The study is carried out in a prospectively randomly controlled way. In the context of acknowledgement and understanding from parents, by comparing with traditional process(no anesthesia), lidocaine surface anesthesia is randomly selected. All children will be evaluated by the FLACC (The face, legs, activity, cry, consolability behavioral tool) scale to quantitatively assess degree of pain during lumbar puncture. Time and success rate of the lumber puncture will be recorded and analyzed. A questionnaire about bad memory during lumbar puncture for all parents and children will be investigated in order to establish an optimized lumbar puncture management process.

Management Following Lumbar Puncture In Children

Spinal Puncture Complications

The study is carried out in a prospectively randomly controlled way. In the context of acknowledgement and understanding from parents, by comparing with traditional process (lying without the pillow and fasting water and food for four hours following lumbar puncture), an optimized postoperative management (lying without the pillow for half an hour following lumbar puncture) is randomly selected. All children will be evaluated by the FLACC (The face, legs, activity, cry, consolability behavioral tool) scale to assess the degree of pain after lumbar puncture. Any postoperative condition will be recorded and analyzed. A questionaire about bad memory during lumbar puncture for all parents and children will be investigated in order to establish an optimized lumbar puncture management process.

Running Related Injury Among Novice Runners

Treatment ErrorOveruse Injury

About 31% of the Danish population participates regularly in running. The positive health benefits of running have been well documented in the literature. Unfortunately, running has been connected with a high risk of injuries. Running related injuries can cause a long rehabilitation and may even force the runner to quit running permanently. To ensure that running can be practiced as a safe exercise activity prevention must be considered.

Genetic Polymorphisms & The Risk for Sepsis After Trauma

Trauma

The specific aim of this is to establish a cohort of severely injured patients admitted to our trauma center. Investigators will collect DNA, utilizing discarded blood samples, from 3000 injury victims in an effort to identify perhaps 50 - 100 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) (out of 1000s) that can be used, when taken together, to identify patients at highest risk for developing complicated sepsis and death.

Prevention of Myocardial Dysfunction and Injury Resulting From Salter Innominate Osteotomy by Caudal...

Cardiac DysfunctionMyocardial Injury

The goal of the present study was to investigate the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in myocardial dysfunction and injury resulting from noncardiac injury in children and whether or not anti-inflammatory treatment with caudal block prevents pro-inflammatory cytokines-associated myocardial dysfunction and injury following noncardiac surgery.

Monitoring and Treatment of Extremity Trauma for Mass Casualties in Difficult Contexts

Wounds and InjuriesTraumatic Amputation

The prospective cohort study, SuTra2, assesses the functional and socio-economic status of patients who were operated on for a severe limb injury resulting in amputation or limb preservation 1 and 2 years after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

Pelvic Ring Injury

Pelvic Ring Injury

The purpose of this study is to determine whether displacement on one or all of the standard radiography views done within 6 months and 1 year after a pelvic injury is related to health related quality of life outcomes of patients with an isolated pelvic ring injury.

Do Common Physical Tests Predict Injury or Performance

Lower Extremity Musculoskeletal Injury

Field tests are convenient, simple tests that serve as estimates of components of athletic performance like power speed, and agility. It is thought clinically, that those who do best at these tests will perform the best in their sport and/or be the least likely to get injured. The converse is also thought to be true. The objective of this study is to administer field tests to athletes at the beginning of each season and then follow athletes over several years, tracking their injuries and their performance statistics. In this way, the investigators can determine if the clinical supposition is true and that the results of field tests are associated with injury or performance
