Brain InjuriesTraumatic2 more

The experimental design is an open-label two-week trial of tolcapone to evaluate which clinical domains are affected by tolcapone treatment and to identify "responders" to tolcapone treatment in the two subject groups (BI and NCD)

Functional Movement Analysis of Handball Players

InjuriesSports Physical Therapy

RELATIONSHIP OF FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ANALYSIS WITH INJURY HISTORY AND ATHLETIC PARAMETERS IN HANDBALL ATHLETES Abstract Objectives: Handball is a popular sport in many countries. There is lack of knowledge about handball athlete's functional movement capacity. The aim of this study is to investigate the Functional Movement Screen (FMS™) scores, to evaluate the injury risks of handball athletes and to determine its relationship with athletic performance. Design: Observational study. Methods: A total of 51 professional handball players in Turkey were included in this study. The sport-specific features and demographic data were recorded. The functional movement analysis was performed and agility and balance and force were evaluated.

Early Versus Late Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis in Critically Ill Cirrhotics With Septic Shock...

Cirrhotics With Septic Shock and Acute Kidney Injury

Consecutive patients with cirrhosis and septic shock with AKI who give written informed consent will be included in this prospective trial. At baseline NT-Pro BNP, urine N-GAL will be done for all patients. A baseline serum blood sample (10 ml) and urine sample will be stored. Septic shock will be defined by the presence of two or more diagnostic criteria for the systemic inflammatory response syndrome, proven or suspected infection with hypotension non-responsive to adequate fluid resuscitation assessed by no evidence of stroke volume variation on flow track and need of a vasopressor to achieve a target mean arterial pressure (MAP) of ≥ 65 mm Hg. A record of CVP, IVC diameter and B-lines on ultrasound lung would also be done. Patients with age less than 18 years, severe known cardiopulmonary disease (structural or valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, COPD) pregnancy, chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis, patients already meeting emergency criteria for immediate hemodialysis at the time of randomization as specified in the late group, patients transferred from other hospitals who have already been on hemodialysis before their arrival in the intensive care unit, extremely moribund patients with an expected life expectancy of less than 24 hours, failure to give informed consent from family members.

Can Targeted Education Impact the Current Standard of Care in Patients With Mild Traumatic Brain...

Headache DisordersPost-Concussion Syndrome1 more

The study will ask the question as to whether or not it is possible to deliver education material to patients with a mild traumatic brain injury in a consistent matter. The question will be asked as to whether an educational intervention decreases symptom reporting specifically looking at headache symptoms. Half of the patients will receive the current standard of care in the tertiary clinic they have been referred to while the other half will also receive the current standard of care with the addition of targeted headache educational material at various time points.

PICO Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in Obese Women Undergoing Elective Cesarean Delivery.

Cesarean Section ComplicationsCesarean Wound; Dehiscence1 more

A randomized controlled, parallel group, superiority, open-label, single-institution, Phase 3 interventional clinical trial to evaluate clinical outcomes in obese gravidas undergoing elective cesarean delivery whose wounds were dressed with the PICO Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) versus the standard dressing. We hypothesize that the PICO NPWT will reduce the incidence of surgical site occurrences and interventions and postoperative readmissions in obese women. The study will compare surgical site occurrences and surgical incision intervention incidence within 42 +/- 10 days post cesarean delivery in obese women who have the current standard-of-care dressing versus the PICO NPWT.

Effects of App-based Versus Personal On-site Instruction on Neuromuscular Activity in Injury Prevention...

Musculoskeletal InjuryInjury1 more

Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate neuromuscular characteristics observed during a single bout of selected and validated injury preventive exercises instructed by an app (in accordance with 'Get set - Train smarter') versus gold standard instruction, supervision and feedback provided on-site by an expert. The present evaluation targets a population of female football and handball players without any previous exposure to injury prevention training.
