How Different Sedatives Affect Hip Fracture Patient's Postoperative Delirium
Delirium in Old Agethe hypothesis is that Dexmedetomidine seems to decrease incidence of post-operative delirium . one possible mechanism is that Dex have a minor influence on cognition, since it has no effect on GABA receptor, another is that Dex could induce a sleep similar to natural sleep, thereby decreasing sleep deprivation and circadian rhythm disorder in post-operative patients. In this study , investigators devise the two different sedatives(Dexmedetomidine and Propofol)'influence on postoperative delirium in hip fracture elderly participants under spinal anesthesia
Preoperative levosimendán and Hip Fracture
Ventricular DysfunctionLeft1 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate whether preoperative optimization with levosimendan in heart failure patients undergoing hip fracture surgery improves haemodynamic and tissue perfusion parameters.
Trial of a Distal Targeting System for Cephalomedullary Nails as Part of Surgical Repair of Hip...
Hip FracturesFemoral Shaft FracturesThis study will be a prospective, case - control trial looking at the use of a previously FDA approved device made by Stryker, a distal targeting system that eases the distal targeting of screws in cephalomedullary nails in hip and femoral shaft fractures. Patients who consent to participate in the study will either be in the control or device arm of the study depending on their surgeon.
Fascia Iliaca Blocks and Pre-operative Opioid Requirements in Hip Fracture Patients
Hip FractureThe purpose of this study is to determine if non-continuous local anesthetic fascia iliaca blocks performed in the emergency department are effective for preoperative analgesia in hip fracture patients. Investigators hypothesize that patients with these blocks will have lower opioid requirements than patients in a historical group in whom blocks were not performed.
Tranexamic Acid in Hip Fracture Surgery
Hip FractureTo determine if TXA utilization is effective at reducing transfusion rates in elderly patients undergoing surgery for treatment of a hip fractures.
Static Balance Disorders in Patients After Surgical Treatment of Hip Acetabular Fractures
Hip FracturesAcetabular Fracture2 moreThe mechanism of maintaining balance is a complex phenomenon, involving numerous systems of human body. High-energy trauma resulting in acetabular fracture damages some of the elements composing this delicate mechanism, potentially increasing the risk of falls in patients. There have not been any studies so far on balance levels in patients after surgical treatment of acetabular fractures. Questions/purposes Do balance disorders occur in patients after ORIF of acetabular fractures? Do surgical approach and fracture pattern influence balance level of patients? Should therapy programs include certain stabilometric parameters adequate especially for this type of injury?
Pathological Subtrochanteric Fractures in 194 Patients
Subtrochanteric Femur FracturesIn this study, the investigators analyze a consecutive series of patients operated for pathological subtrochanteric femur fracture to describe survival and reoperation rates after surgery and to identify risk factors for death. Moreover, the investigators include a cohort of patients with non-pathological subtrochanteric fractures for comparison.
Efficacy and Safety of Intravenous Iron Sucrose in Patients With Hip Fracture to Prevent Perioperative...
Hip FractureSurgical InterventionThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of intravenous iron sucrose in patients with hip fracture and surgical intervention to prevent perioperative anemia.
Avenir Müller Hip Stem Post Market Surveillance Study
OsteoarthritisHip6 moreThis study is a Post Market Clinical Follow up study to fulfil the post market surveillance obligations according to Medical Device Directive and European Medical Device Vigilance System (MEDDEV) 2.12-2. The data collected from this study will serve the purpose of confirming safety and performance of the Avenir Müller Hip Stem.
Trochanteric Fractures - How to Improve the Results of Reduction and Implant Positioning
Hip FracturesThis prospective study (including patients with an intertrochanteric or subtrochanteric fractures type 31A1, 31A2 and 31A3) is to assess the effect of an educational intervention for operating surgeons with respect to an improvement of the quality of reduction and internal stabilisation of intertrochanteric fractures. A historic cohort of patients operated at the University Hospital Basel for an intertrochanteric fracture from 2014-2015 will be used for comparison.
