Primary Tumour Response to Induction Chemotherapy in Synchronously Metastasized Colorectal Cancer...

Gastrointestinal Neoplasm

We performed a retrospective data analysis of patients with synchronously metastasized colorectal cancer, comparing the histological response on the primary tumour to chemotherapy combined with either vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibition.

Diagnostic Accuracy of 3T MR for Secondary Hyperparathyroidism Comparison With 4DCT

Parathyroid Gland DiseaseSecondary Hyperparathyroidism

Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common serious complication in the maintenance process of hemodialysis patients, characterized by diffuse or nodular hyperplasia of parathyroid glands. Parathyroidectomy for patients with drug-refractory SHPT is recommended in the clinical practice guidelines of the Global Organization for Improving Prognosis in Kidney Disease (KDIGO) and the Japanese Dialysis Therapy Society (JSDT) . Therefore, accurate localization and detection of parathyroid abnormalities is the key to avoid persistent recurrence of the disease. However, the sensitivity and specificity of the existing ultrasound and 99MTC-MIBI diagnosis are limited. CT examination is radiative and requires iodine contrast medium with nephrotoxicity, which may require timely dialysis and long-term monitoring for hemodialysis patients. 3T MRI has no radiation and does not need to use iodine contrast agent, which can well detect parathyroid lesions . Previous studies have reported that 3T MRI can diagnose primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), but the diagnostic efficacy of SHPT is still unclear. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the preoperative diagnostic value of non-enhanced 3T MRI compared with 4DCT in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism after hemodialysis.

Partial Seizures (With or Without Secondary Generalized Seizures)Primary Generalized Tonic-clonic Seizures

The objective of this study is to identify the following in adult epilepsy participants with partial-onset seizures (with or without secondary generalized seizures) or primary generalized Tonic-clonic seizures who receive long-term treatment with Fycompa: unknown adverse drug reactions (ADRs); occurrence of ADRs; factors that are likely to affect safety and efficacy; occurrence of dizziness, balance disorders, ataxia, muscle relaxation-related adverse events, and falls as priority investigation items; occurrence of psychiatric adverse events as priority investigation items (eg, aggression).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Whole Body, Including Diffusion, in the Medical Evaluation of...

Metastatic Breastcancer

Whole-body MRI including diffusion is a booming technique. Numerous studies have demonstrated its interest in metastatic cancers. Breast cancers, especially hormone-sensitive ones, are very osteophilic and bones are the most frequent metastatic site. Apart from morphological criteria (lesion size and RECIST criteria), MRI provides quantitative functional criteria (diffusion and ADC values). According to a recent study, whole body MRI is as good as PET/CT and more effective than bone scintigraphy for the diagnosis of bone metastases for cancers of breast and prostate with a high metastatic risk. Therefore, it seems appropriate to study the performance of whole body MRI in the pre-therapeutic assessment of breast cancer with a high risk for metastasis and the monitoring of metastatic breast cancer.

A Study to Follow-up Patients With End Stage Renal Disease Undergoing Hemodialysis, Receiving Selective...

Secondary HyperparathyroidismEnd Stage Renal Disease

The aim of this post-marketing observational study is to obtain further data on the long term use, safety and efficacy of selective Vitamin D Receptor Activator's as it is prescribed in the normal clinical setting and according to the approved Summary of Product Characteristics for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in hemodialysis patients in Turkey. The relation of the safety data to PTH (Parathyroid hormone) suppression over time will be evaluated. Also the number and incidence of hypercalcemia and hyperphosphatemia will be recorded.

Study to Assess Patient Management Practices and Quality of Life With Paricalcitol Capsules in the...

Secondary HyperparathyroidismChronic Kidney Disease

Paricalcitol capsules (Zemplar®) received marketing authorization in Sweden in late 2007 for the prevention and treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with Stage 3 & 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Accordingly, additional data is needed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of paricalcitol therapy under conditions of usual clinical care in Sweden. This observational study is designed to collect data to evaluate safety and effectiveness during 6 months of therapy with paricalcitol capsules prescribed for patients with CKD Stages 3-5 not yet on dialysis. Data will also be collected on patient quality of life and costs associated with patient care.

Whole Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for Detection of Cancer Metastases

Breast Cancer

The objective of this pilot study is to develop and evaluate a whole body MRI technique for detecting cancer metastases. The whole body MRI will include T1-weighted and T2-weighted phase-sensitive MR imaging as well as diffusion weighted imaging of the whole body in multiple patient table stations.

S0702: Osteonecrosis of the Jaw in Patients With Cancer Receiving Zoledronic Acid for Bone Metastases...

Breast CancerLung Cancer6 more

RATIONALE: Gathering information about how often osteonecrosis of the jaw occurs in patients receiving zoledronic acid for bone metastases may help doctors learn more about the disease and provide the best follow-up care. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying osteonecrosis of the jaw in patients with cancer who are receiving zoledronic acid for bone metastases.
