However, it causes postoperative nausea and vomiting more than other methods providing postoperative analgesia. Patients suffering from these side effects have to spend a longer period of time recovering in the hospital with high cost of medical treatment.

Postoperative Nausea and VomitingThe laparoscopic technique is commonly employed for abdominal gynaecological surgery in women. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) may occur in 30% of women undergoing gynaecological surgery. In patients with multiple risk factors for nausea and vomiting, the incidence is up to 80%. PONV has a significant negative effect on patient satisfaction after anesthesia and is one of the most common causes for unexpected hospital admissions in day-surgery. Sugammadex and Neostigmine are both drugs that are used to reverse the effect of muscle relaxation producing drugs that are commonly used during surgery. Neostigmine has been the drug of common use for this purpose, but PONV is reported with its usage. With this research we intend to determine whether the trial drug Sugammadex would reduce the incidence of PONV in high-risk women after undergoing laparoscopic gynaecological surgery when compared to Neostigmine.

Patients undergoing orthognathic surgery are reported to have a high rate of PONV, especially those undergoing bimaxillary surgery. Activation of cholinergic system plays an important role in the development of PONV. Penehyclidine is an muscarinic antagonists which selectively block M1 and M3 receptors and is commonly used to decrease oral secretion. The investigators hypothesize that continuously administrated penehyclidine during perioperative period can reduce the incidence of PONV in patients undergoing bimaxillary surgery.

Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and VomitingThe primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of two different doses of IV palonosetron in the prevention of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting in MEC and HEC patients through 120 hours after start of chemotherapy in single and repeated chemotherapy cycles. The secondary objectives are to evaluate the safety and tolerability of IV palonosetron in pediatric patients and evaluate the pharmacokinetics of IV palonosetron in a subset of pediatric CINV patients.

In our hospital, most of the patients are supposed to fast after midnight The oral rehydration therapy reduce patients thirst and increase his satisfaction, but whether or not this method can reduce the incidence of PONV after low dose (0.2 mg) intrathecal morphine is not investigated yet. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of preoperative oral rehydration therapy on the incidence of PONV.

The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of using aprepitant instead of ondansetron in combination with dexamethasone and promethazine for post-operative nausea and vomiting prophylaxis. By completing this comparison study investigators will determine the most efficacious drug combination which will allow us to enhance the overall comfort and satisfaction of neurosurgical patients in the immediate postoperative period.

Chemotherapy-induced Nausea and VomitingThis is a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, parallel-group, double-blind, active-controlled study of rolapitant in subjects receiving HEC. Rolapitant or placebo will be administered 1-2 hours prior to initiation of chemotherapy on Day 1 with granisetron and dexamethasone. Subjects will record all events of emesis and use of rescue medication for established nausea and/or vomiting, and will indicate the severity of nausea they experienced in each of the previous 24 hours in the Nausea and Vomiting (NV) Subject Diary prior to HEC administration through Day 6 of Cycle 1. Health-related quality of life will be measured by the FLIE Questionnaire on Day 6 of Cycle 1. Safety and tolerability will be assessed by clinical review of adverse events (AEs), physical examinations, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and safety laboratory values. All subjects are expected to complete Cycle 1 and will have the option of participating in up to five additional cycles.
