Movement-Based Pelvic Health Education for Women in Underserved Communities

Pelvic Floor Muscle WeaknessPelvic Pain

It is essential to provide the community with evidenced-based care to optimize healthcare outcomes; more specifically, women in underserved communities undergoing health disparities in rehabilitation. To address this issue, a movement-based pelvic health education course was developed to assess women's knowledge and adherence of the exercises in an underserved region in Western Arkansas. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of a single movement-based pelvic health education session on general pelvic health knowledge, underactive pelvic floor, and overactive pelvic floor knowledge and adherence to performing pelvic exercises in women.

Digital Care Programs for Female Pelvic Health

Pelvic Floor DisordersPelvic Pain3 more

The purpose of this study is to create a research repository, composed of data collected in the course of digital care programs for pelvic health conditions by SWORD Health/Bloom to individuals undergoing those programs. This will allow the investigators to observe the acceptance, engagement and outcomes of programs using this approach in the treatment of multiple pelvic health disorders.

Platelet Rich Plasma for Uterine Scar

Cesarean Section ComplicationsUterine Bleeding2 more

When vessel wall injury occurs, platelets become activated, releasing more than 30 bioactive proteins, many of which have a fundamental role in hemostasis, inflammation and ultimate wound healing. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a modification of fibrin glue made from autologous blood, is being used to deliver growth factors in high concentration to sites requiring wound healing. PRP is obtained from a sample of patients' blood drawn at the time of treatment. As the rate of cesarean deliveries has been rising, long-term adverse sequelae due to uterine scar defects have been increasing. PRP might be a simple preventive treatment that potentially can reduce morbidity following cesarean deliveries.

Effectiveness of Sympathetic Plexus Block on Male Pelvic Pain (Prostatitis, Prostatodynia)

Chronic Male Pelvic Pain SyndromeProstatitis

The purpose of this study is to investigate, by means of a temporary sympathetic nerve block, the involvement of the sympathetic nervous system in Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS). This study may also result in a new therapeutic approach for male CPPS.

Development of a Patient-reported Outcome Measure for Women With Chronic Pelvic Pain

Chronic Pelvic Pain SyndromePelvic Congestive Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to develop a patient questionnaire that can be utilized to assess the benefit of treatments of chronic pelvic pain in research studies. The information collected from a series of patient interviews will lead to the development of a questionnaire that accounts for the full impact of chronic pelvic pain from an affected woman's perspective.

Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Floor Health in Female Chronic Overlapping Pelvic Pain Conditions

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to learn about nerve function and pelvic muscle function. To do this we will compare the pelvic nerve and muscle function of women with chronic pelvic pain to those who do not have chronic pelvic pain. Understanding the pain may lead to better treatments in the future.

Genetic Study of Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS)

Chronic Prostatitis (CP)Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)3 more

Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a condition with several causes of which some remain unknown. It is believed that some types of CP may be genetic or passed down (inherited) from one generation to the next. In this study, we are collecting genetic material and medical information to try to determine if genetic factors play a role in CP/CPPS. We will be collecting DNA (from Blood/Saliva sample) and urine from each participant. Bladder tissue from affected individuals will also be collected. Individuals and families with CP/CPPS will be enrolled. Family members of an individual with CP/CPPS are eligible whether or not they also experience CP/CPPS symptoms.
