Autonomic Small Fiber Neuropathy and Ehlers Danlos Syndromes - Prospective Study and Registry

Autonomic NeuropathyEhlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility Type2 more

We examine patients with different autonomic neuropathies and Ehlers Danlos syndromes compared to healthy controls at three different points over time (baseline, after 3 months and after 1.5 years) to gain knowledge about the course of this disease and understand its pathophysiology, with a focus on Small Fiber neuropathy. Moreover we will validate the german version of the Malmö POTS Score and establish an easy diagnostic scheme for patients in outpatient care.

Evaluation of Impact of Disease and Visual Disability on Quality of Life and Loss of Independence...

Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON)

Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) is a rare mitochondrial genetic disorder characterized by optic nerve atrophy due to the degeneration of retinal ganglion cells, which leads to acute visual loss. Males are more likely to develop optic neuropathy than women. They experience blurring or clouding of vision in one eye. The fellow eye develops similar symptoms sequentially with a delay of weeks. This sudden vision loss has devastating consequences on the life course of young men, with the impact of LHON on their quality of life and loss of independence. Yet, data describing the impacts of LHON on the life-course of patients is lacking, with very little data available in the literature. This study aims to understand the life of patients living with LHON disease through the analysis of the impact of LHON on the quality of life and loss of independence of patients living in France and to accurately describe the consequences of the disease on their social, familial and professional life.

Internet-delivered Management of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)

CIPN - Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

This is a small pilot trial (n=26) among cancer survivors with CIPN who will utilize an internet-delivered pain coping program for 8 weeks in order to assess program feasibility and preliminary understanding of how participation in the program may influence pain interference. Also proposed is a secondary focus on subjective and objective function, medication use, psychological distress, and coping.

Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)

Chemotherapy can cause sensory disorders in the hands and feet called peripheral neuropathy. Typical symptoms are pain, loss of sensation, tingling, numbness, and gait disturbances, which worsen patients' quality of life and increase the risk of falls. Little is known about the effect of rosemary oil (applied to hands and feet) on the symptoms of neuropathy. The present study is a feasibility study to see if it is possible to conduct a clinical trial in patients diagnosed with cancer and receiving chemotherapy who report peripheral neuropathy and apply rosemary oil to their hands and feet.

The Kinetics of Endocannabinoids in Patients With Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy by...

Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is the most common neurological cancer treatment complication. Medical cannabis is indicated in Israel for the treatment of chronic pain, spasticity and for the control of pain and other symptoms in patients with cancer. The proposed study aims are to study about the changes in level of endocannabinoids following continuous exposure to phytocannabinoids and about the long-term effect of medical cannabis on CIPN.

Breast NeoplasmsChemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Breast cancer ranks first in Taiwan's top ten gynecological cancers. Chemotherapy is a standard treatment method for colorectal cancer and breast cancer, but while destroying cancer cells, it also destroys healthy cells, resulting in side effects. Peripheral neuropathy can lead to peripheral nerve damage and decreased activity, which affects the patient's quality of life. Currently, there is no standard and effective method for treating peripheral neuropathy caused by chemotherapy. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of percutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation on improving peripheral nerve symptoms in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
