Fludarabine, Busulfan, and Antilymphocyte Globulin Followed by Donor Stem Cell Transplant in Treating...
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersLeukemia4 moreRATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy before a donor stem cell transplant using stem cells that closely match the patient's stem cells, helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving antilymphocyte globulin before transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well fludarabine, busulfan, and antilymphocyte globulin together with donor stem cell transplant works in treating older patients with hematological cancer.
Fludarabine, Busulfan, Antithymocyte Globulin, and Donor Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients...
Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmRATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of giving fludarabine together with busulfan and antithymocyte globulin followed by donor stem cell transplant and to see how well it works in treating patients with multiple myeloma that has not responded to treatment.
Panobinostat and Everolimus in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Lymphoma or Multiple...
LymphomaMultiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmRATIONALE: Panobinostat and everolimus may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Giving panobinostat together with everolimus may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of panobinostat when given together with everolimus in treating patients with relapsed or refractory lymphoma or multiple myeloma.
Treated T Cells Followed by a Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Multiple Myeloma
Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy followed by treated T cells before a stem cell transplant stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or by killing them. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood and stored. High-dose chemotherapy is given to prepare the bone marrow for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood-forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best way to give treated T cells followed by stem cell transplant in treating patients with multiple myeloma.
Everolimus in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Multiple Myeloma
Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmRATIONALE: Everolimus may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well everolimus works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
Busulfan, Cyclophosphamide, & Antithymocyte Globulin Followed by Stem Cell Transplant in Treating...
Graft Versus Host DiseaseLeukemia5 moreRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy before a donor bone marrow transplant or peripheral stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells and helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When certain stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil after the transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving busulfan together with cyclophosphamide and antithymocyte globulin followed by donor stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematologic cancer.
High-Dose Chemotherapy With or Without Total-Body Irradiation Followed by Autologous Stem Cell Transplant...
Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in RemissionAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Remission59 moreThis pilot trial studies different high-dose chemotherapy regimens with or without total-body irradiation (TBI) to compare how well they work when given before autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) in treating patients with hematologic cancer or solid tumors. Giving high-dose chemotherapy with or without TBI before ASCT stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood or bone marrow and stored. More chemotherapy may be given to prepare for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy.
Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Patients With Busulfex-based Regimen
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersLeukemia3 moreRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy, such as fludarabine and busulfan, before a donor peripheral stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer or abnormal cells. It also helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving a monoclonal antibody, alemtuzumab, before the transplant and tacrolimus after the transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: The phase I portion of this trial identified the maximum tolerated dose of busulfan after treating 40 patients on a dose-escalation scheme. We are now treating an additional 26 patients on the phase II portion of the trial at a Pharmacokinetic (PK)-directed dose of total area under curve (AUC) 6912 micrometer (uM)-min/24 hours. We transitioned to the Phase II portion of the study in October 2009.
Bortezomib, Doxorubicin Hydrochloride Liposome, and Dexamethasone Followed by Thalidomide and Dexamethasone...
Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmRATIONALE: Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome and dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or stopping them from dividing. Thalidomide may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Giving bortezomib together with doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome and dexamethasone followed by thalidomide, dexamethasone, and bortezomib may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well giving bortezomib together with doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome and dexamethasone followed by thalidomide and dexamethasone with or without bortezomib works in treating patients with multiple myeloma.

Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmPainRATIONALE: Radioactive drugs, such as samarium Sm 153 lexidronam pentasodium, may carry radiation directly to cancer cells and not harm normal cells. Zoledronic acid and pamidronate may help relieve bone pain caused by multiple myeloma. Giving samarium Sm 153 lexidronam pentasodium together with zoledronic acid or pamidronate may be an effective treatment for multiple myeloma. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of samarium Sm 153 lexidronam pentasodium when given together with zoledronic acid or pamidronate and to see how well it works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma and bone pain.
