Minimal Invasive Volar Plating Versus Cast Immobilization for Treatment of Stable Non-displaced...
Radius Fracture DistalNondisplaced distal radial fractures are nowadays treated by plaster cast immobilization. In this study, the investigators challenge this classical standard treatment with a surgical solution: minimal invasive volar plating with pronatus quadratus sparing approach. Potential benefits of this surgical treatment are higher cost effectiveness, economical benefit, earlier recuperation of professional and recreational activities, earlier functional recuperation by faster clinical recovery (range of motion, grip strength) and decreased risk of secondary fracture displacement. Potential drawbacks are surgical risks and complications.
Perioperative Glucocorticoid Administration in the Treatment of Adult Distal Radius Fractures
Distal Radius FractureThe purpose of this investigation is to compare functional outcome measures and range of motion for patients receiving glucocorticoid (GC) injections versus those not receiving GCs for the treatment of distal radius fractures. The investigators hypothesize that patients who receive GC will have improved ROM and functional outcome measures compared to patients who do not receive GC. In addition, this study aims to determine if there is a difference in rates of complications and postoperative pain control between the GC and non-GC groups. In order to accomplish these aims, the investigators will conduct a prospective, randomized, controlled investigation.
Removable Splint Versus Cast in the Treatment of Distal Radius Fracture in Children
Fracture of RadiusRefugees live in camps under unusual living conditions. The children in the camps may not have enough safe facilities to play. If an injury occurred in these children, the classical and adequate regime of treatment may not be available. Hence, it may be valuable to find simple, cheap, and safe methods of treatment for their injuries.
Celecoxib in Postoperative Analgesia for Radius Fracture Surgery
PainPostoperativePatients scheduled for elective osteosynthesis of the distal radius will be randomized to receive celecoxib 100 mg orally (PO) at 6 in the morning before surgery and every 12 hours for 2 days thereafter, or a placebo pill in the same regimen. After surgery under general anaesthesia, they will receive paracetamol 1 g intravenously (IV) every 6 hours and if pain intensity is greater than 4 on a numeric rating scale (NRS) of 0-10, piritramid 15 mg intramuscularly (IM) will be administered. Pain intensity, piritramid consumption and side effects of treatment will be recorded in a questionnaire for 2 days.
BFR Therapy Following DRF
Distal Radius FractureThis study's goal is to evaluate whether blood flow restriction supplemented therapy is a superior therapy compared to traditional standard of care while recovering from a surgery that repairs distal radius fractures. In order to measure this, subjects will be randomly assigned to either the traditional therapy group (with standard of care) or a blood flow restriction supplemented therapy group. All patients involved in this study will have had a distal radius fracture that is repaired with a technique called volar plating and the procedure will be done via an open technique. All subjects will be asked to fill out questionnaires that assess their pain and wrist functionality throughout the course of the study. These measurements will help understand whether the supplemented therapy is effective at reducing pain and improving functionality for patients who are recovering from this injury.
Non-operative Treatment Versus Volar Locking Plate in Treatment of Distal Radius Fracture in Patients...
Distal Radius FractureThe present collaboration study on the treatment of distal radius fractures is aimed to: (i) to compare non-operative treatment to volar plating in the treatment of initially malaligned distal radius fractures in patients aged 65 and older in terms of functional outcome measured with PRWE (ii) to compare non-operative treatment to volar plating in the treatment of distal radius fractures with early instability during follow-up, i.e., loss of reduction at 1 week (range 5 to 10 days) in patients aged 65 and older in terms of functional outcome measured with PRWE (iii)to compare pain, disability, quality of life, grip strength, and the number of complications after non-operative treatment and the initial and delayed operative treatment of distal radius fracture (iv) to assess the effect of pain catastrophizing score (PCS) on the functional outcome of non-operatively and operatively treated distal radius fracture (v) to assess the association between physical activity and the number of wrist movements measured with Axivity accelerometer and functional outcome measured with PROMs of non-operatively and operatively treated distal radius fractures (vi) to assess the effect of initial as well as the final radiological parameters on the functional outcome (vii) to assess the correlation of probability of radiological malalignment estimated by clinical prediction rule (EWC) with functional outcome measured with PRWE and PASS
Complications in Distal Radius Fracture
Radius Fracture DistalBACKGROUND. Distal radius fractures (FRD) are up to 17% of all diagnosed fractures and are the most commonly treated fractures in adult orthopedic patients. The management could be either conservative or surgical, depending on AO bone fracture classification. The principles of good treatment involves an anatomical reduction with a proper immobilization that keep the reduction. OBJECTIVE. Determine if percutaneous pinning for six weeks versus three has major complications in distal radius fractures.
Prospective Randomized Comparison of Conservative and Opertaive Treatment of Radius Fractures in...
Orthopedic DisorderElderly Patients often suffer from radius fracture. Treatment options are conservative and operative. Aim of the stdy is to find out if there are diffrences in Patient's satisfaction depending on the different treatment. A randomized prospective trial is palnned
Preoperative Education in Hand Surgery

Casting Versus Percutaneus Pinning Treatment of Pediatric Overriding Distal Forearm Fractures
Pediatric Overriding Distal Metaphyseal Radius FracturesThis is a randomized controlled trial comparing casting in finger-trap traction without reduction versus closed reduction and percutaneous pin fixation of dorsally displaced, overriding distal metaphyseal radius fractures in under eleven years old children.
