Clinical Response to Rhinovirus Challenge
AsthmaAllergic RhinitisRhinovirus (RV) infections represent the most common cause of asthma exacerbations in children and adolescents. The investigators hypothesize that the immune responses generated in the nose of allergic rhinitics and asthmatics underlie subsequent systemic modulation of the immune system, and that - in susceptible individuals (i.e., those with pre-existing asthma) - this modified nasal milieu is responsible for the asthma exacerbation. Open label single center study in asthmatics as well as allergic rhinitis (AR) and healthy controls. All subjects will undergo good manufacturing practice (GMP) RV16 inoculation and responses will be compared between the 3 cohorts.

Evaluation of Nasal Inflammatory Biomarkers
Seasonal Allergic RhinitisThis research aims to establish a panel of inflammatory biomarkers of the early (Histamine, Tryptase, ProstaglandineD2) and late (Interleukin-4, Interleukin-5, Interleukin-6, Interleukin-13, Eotaxin, Tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF), (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1beta (MIP1ß)) phase response to nasal bolus allergen challenge (NAC) in subjects with out-of-season seasonal allergic rhinitis, suitable for future application in drug intervention studies of novel anti-allergy therapeutics.

Dietary Intake in Adults From the GA2LEN Folow-up Survey
AsthmaLung Function Decreased5 moreThe Nutrition Study of the GA2LEN Follow-Survey was designed to investigate the association between usual dietary intake and allergic and respiratory outcomes in adults across Europe. Within this framework, a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was designed to ascertain usual dietary intake of 250 food items, which was translated into the languages of the participant centres. Information on daily intake of foods, nutrients, and flavonoids was derived.

The Effect of Allergen Immunotherapy on Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Adult Patients With Asthma and Allergic...
Allergic AsthmaAllergic RhinitisThis study will evaluate whether exhaled nitric oxide levels are affected by allergen immunotherapy ("allergy shots"). The investigators' hypothesis is that successful allergen immunotherapy may be accompanied by decreased exhaled nitric oxide levels.

Efficacy, Safety & Tolerability of Ciclesonide 200mcg Spray 4 Weeks Treatment for Intermittent &...
Perennial RhinitisSeasonal RhinitisTo assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of ciclesonide 200 mcg once daily, applied as a nasal spray for four weeks. The main outcome will be the improvement on global and individual typical and associated symptoms of intermittent or persistent rhinitis.

Effectiveness of Beclomethasone Dipropionate Nasal Aerosol for Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
Perennial Allergic Rhinitis (PAR)This study will be a prospective observational study of "real world" BDP nasal aerosol users with PAR, with or without seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR). Subjects will respond to monthly online surveys regarding rhinitis control, concomitant medical conditions, concomitant (non-AR) medications, current AR therapy, and adverse events.

Evaluation of an Integrated Care Project
AsthmaAllergic Rhinitis4 moreThe purpose of the study is to investigate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the integrated care program of a statutory health insurance offering additional homeopathic treatment to their members

Evaluating the Need for New Rhinitis Treatment
RhinitisThe proposed study will evaluate the unmet therapy need in seasonal rhinitis by aiming to answer the following research questions What is the first prescription of the hay-fever season and how many of these patients are on some form of combination therapy? To what extent does initial therapy not meet clinical need (as measured by need for additional medical intervention in terms of consultations and changes in therapy)? Does treatment for allergic rhinitis differ for asthma Vs non-asthma and seasonal Vs perennial patients?

Resolution of Allergic Inflammation
Grass Pollen Allergic RhinitisAfter an allergen challenge, the allergic inflammatory response disappears spontaneously. The initiation of the resolution of the inflammatory response is now recognized as a dynamic process, involving active biochemical programs that enable inflamed tissues to return to homeostasis. Recent data established key roles of different specific lipid mediators in the endogenous counter-regulation of inflammation and activation of resolution. Only little is known about kinetics of these specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators during acute allergic inflammation. Therefore, the primary propose of our study is to characterize the temporal evolution of cellular inflammation and specific lipid mediators after allergen challenge.
