Probe-based Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy in Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients

COVID-19

The study is devoted to the comparative analysis of the data received in patients with COVID-19 lung pathology using the method of probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy of distal airways and two reference methods: high resolution computed tomography and morphology (in some patients).

Deep Venous Thrombosis in Non-severe COVID-19 Patients Hospitalized for a Neurovascular Pathology...

Deep Venous Thrombosis

Severe SARS-CoV-2 infection, responsible of COVID-19, is accompanied by many venous thromboembolic events. Antithrombotic treatment is the cornerstone of management of many neurovascular diseases (NVDs) and the benefit-risk ratio is crucial to avoid hemorrhagic complications. Therefore, in non-severe COVID-19 patients affected by NVDs, the diagnostic of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is challenging. Using bedside Doppler ultrasonography (DUS) of lower limbs, this study investigated the rates of DVT in these patients in stroke unit.

Clinical Features of Severe Patients With COVID-19

SARS-CoV2

As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spreads across the world, the intensive care unit (ICU) community must prepare for the challenges associated with this pandemic. Providing an efficient care to the patients of the most severely affected category - intensive care unit (ICU) patients - has become one of the serious problems appearing in the COVID-19 pandemics. A typical patient's clinical portrait in ICU of COVID centers is very similar in different countries, however, the key to improve the treatment results for critically ill patients has not yet been found. Data on predictors of severe course in COVID-19 is limited. Knowledge of predictors of severe course of disease can lead to different selection of therapeutic strategy, determine the group of risk of patients for severe course of disease, and improve outcomes.

The Impact of COVID-19 Outbreak on Trans-population's Health in Italy

Transgender PersonsCoronavirus3 more

During the COVID-19 outbreak, it was necessary to remodel the healthcare offer for all categories of subjects in order to minimize unnecessary movements of people while maintaining an adequate level of assistance. This is also true for transgender people, who are periodically requested to come into the clinic for hormonal therapy monitoring and continuation. In our center telemedicine programs dedicated to users have been activated for the remote management of hormone therapy. We use a web-based survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 outbreak on trans-population health and to assess the specific needs of this population in this particular moment.

Psychosocial Outcomes in Families of COVID-19 ICU Patients

Critical IllnessFamily2 more

During the first part of the SRAS-COV2 pandemic, families were not allowed to visit the patients in ICU. We know that families can develop "Family-PICS" after their relatives' ICU stay. The aim of the study is to study the psychosocial outcomes of families of patients who were admitted in ICU for COVID-19 during the pandemic. The second objective was to search for any differences in outcomes whether families benefited from video-conferences with the medical team and their relatives or not during the ICU stay.

Brazilian Registry for Clinical Presentation of Individuals With COVID-19 (SARS-Brazil)

Covid19SARS-CoV Infection

This is a registry-based cohort study of all adult patients (≥18 years) with confirmed or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection. The main goal is to describe mortality incidence, demographic characteristics, coexisting conditions, treatments, outcomes among SARS-CoV2 infected patients. A secondary goal is to identify biological factors (OMICS - genomic, proteomic and metabolomics characterization) associated with severity conditions for these patients.

Frequency of Perforated Appendicitis in Times of COVID-19

Perforated AppendicitisCovid19

Appendicitis is one of the most common clinical conditions in general surgery. The diagnosis is usually made from clinical examination, imaging (sonography or CT) and laboratory parameters. The laparoscopic appendectomy without drainage has established as the gold standard. Patients usually leave the hospital two days after surgery. In times of corona crisis, patients are unsure to visit the hospital because of fear of infection with SARS-CoV-2. A higher incidence of perforated appendicitis could be an indicator for fear-related delay of going to the hospital. Methods: Investigators performed a retrospective analysis on the incidence of perforated appendicitis in a 10-week interval (mid-March to end of May) of the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 to evaluate possible changes in times of corona crisis. Intraoperative findings, procedures, complications and the length of hospital stay were considered.
