Radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (rESWT) Treatment of Subacromial Shoulder Pain

Shoulder Impingement SyndromeSubacromial Shoulder Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine whether rESWT (radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy) combined with supervised exercises will improve function and reduce pain in subacromial shoulder pain compared with supervised exercises alone.

Ultrasound Evaluation of the Rotator Cable and Associated Structures.

Shoulder Pain

This study will use healthy volunteers and patients with shoulder problems (pain or impaired movement). Ultrasound will be used to image and document the appearance of both normal and abnormal shoulder structures.

Referred Pain Patterns Infraspinatus Muscle

Shoulder Pain

The first aim of the study will be to identify the most common ReP pattern and compare its coincidence with that described by Travell and Simons. Second, the study aim will be to verify whether there are any significant differences by sex and types of technique used in regard to the ReP pattern of TrP 2 of the infraspinatus muscle, an area described as more sensitive. Finally, the third aim of the study will be to determine whether deep dry needling will evoke the LTR and ReP more easily than manual palpation.

Efficacy of a Web App With Multimedia Animations to Teach Therapeutic Exercise in Shoulder Pain...

Shoulder Impingement Syndrome

The aim of this trial is to develop and evaluate a web app to teach patients about how to correctly perform a tailored program of shoulder exercises. The exercise program will be evidence based, and there will be two groups in the study, both exercising. The follow up will be of 6 months.

The Effect of Exercise Therapy in Painful Shoulder Disorders

Shoulder PainShoulder Disease2 more

20 adults who applied to the orthopedic clinic with shoulder pain, did not require surgical intervention, were referred to the physiotherapy clinic for treatment; will be evaluated in terms of balance, pain and joint range of motion and then included in the exercise program. 20 adults without pain will be evaluated as the control group and the results will be compared within and between groups. Our hypothesis is that the balance will improve and pain will decrease in individuals after exercise.

Does Meloxicam Provide as Much Pain Relief as Opioids After Shoulder Surgery?

Shoulder Pain

The opioid epidemic continues to be a major concern, with orthopedic surgeons being among the top prescribers of opioids. Studies evaluating these practices found that opioids are overprescribed, even for common procedures. Patients undergoing arthroscopic labrum repair of the shoulder were found to have an average of 20 pills left over after surgery. Many strategies have been developed to tackle overprescribing and have found success, including no opioid protocols for carpal tunnel release. The purpose of this study is to examine if meloxicam alone provides similar patient reported outcomes to opioids following arthroscopic labrum repair of the shoulder.

Decreasing Upper and Shoulder Pain After Laparoscopic Surgery

Shoulder PainNausea

Laparoscopic surgery is becoming a major procedure, owing to smaller incisions, shorter hospitalizations, and less post-operative pain as compared with traditional laparotomies. However, there is marked interindividual variability of post-operative shoulder-tip pain following laparoscopic surgery. The incidence of shoulder pain varies from 35% to 80% and ranges from mild to severe. In some cases, it has been reported to last more than 72 hours after surgery. The hypothesis of post-operative shoulder-tip pain is that carbon dioxide induced phrenic nerve irritation causes referred pain to C4. Therefore, the investigators should try to do is that if the investigators could reduce carbon dioxide retention in the pelvic cavity. This clinical controlled trial is tried to find out the practical and clinical maneuver to reduce post-operative should-tip pain following laparoscopic surgery.

Physical Therapy Program for Prevention of Shoulder Pain After Device Implant

Shoulder Pain

This is a clinical research study to determine if a prescribed physical therapy intervention after subcutaneous implantation of an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) or pacemaker reduces the incidence of rotator cuff tendonitis when compared to usual post procedural care.
