Research on Suicidal Ideation of University Students in Harbin City and Cognitive Behavior Therapy...

Suicide

The purposes of this research are: to understand the status of suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior, and depression in Harbin University students; and to analyse the infect factors of suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior. With cognitive behavior interventions on students with suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior, and middle or high degree of depression, the researchers can provide a scientific and effective intervention to the students. Application and Evaluation of Group Cognitive Intervention for Depressed Adolescents

Community Adolescents at Risk for Depression and Suicide

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is effective and CBT with parental involvement has potential in preventing and treating adolescent depression. The purpose of this study was to compare the short- and long-term effectiveness of CBT alone and CBT plus parental education for community-based adolescents at risk for depression and suicide in Taiwan. It is hypothesized that the CBT alone and CBT with parental education group are more effective than the control group.

Prevention of Suicidal Behaviour With Telemedicine Techniques

SuicideAttempted

This is a multicenter controlled intervention study that aims to assess the efficacy of a telephone follow-up program for the prevention of suicidal behavior in adults discharged from general hospitals after a suicide attempt. The hypothesis is that the implementation of this program is associated with reduced rates of suicide reattempts in these patients and also with delayed reattempts in them.

ED Treatment of Suicidal Patients With Ketamine Infusion

Intranasal Ketamine for Late-Life Depression and Suicidal Ideation

DepressionSuicide1 more

The investigators of this study plan to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of repeated doses of intranasal ketamine in severely depressed patients who are at least 65 years of age and experiencing suicidal ideation. The results of the study could lead to development of new strategies for treating depression.

STAT-ED: Suicidal Teens Accessing Treatment After an Emergency Department Visit

Suicide

This study looks to implement a novel intervention (STAT-ED) for children who screen positive to suicide ideation. The intervention looks to collect data from several different measures and then randomize participants into one of two groups: a control group where the participant will be set up with a mental health referral from a psychiatric social worker; or if randomized into the STAT-ED intervention, the adolescent and parent will receive a brief motivational interview, barrier reduction discussion, referral and limited case management by the study social worker to enhance outpatient mental health follow up after discharge from the ED. The hypothesis of the study is patients who are randomized into the STAT-ED intervention group will have a significantly higher rate of initiating mental health treatment and will attend more mental health treatment sessions in the two months after the ED visit compared with adolescents in the control group. Secondary aims of this study look to determine whether the effectiveness of the STAT-ED intervention differs by age, gender, or ethnicity; and evaluate predictors and mediators of mental health treatment engagement.

Effectiveness Trial of Youth Suicide Prevention Delivered by Teen Peer Leaders

Suicide Prevention

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of the school-based Sources of Strength program in reducing suicidal behaviors in the population of high school students and determine how the program works (mechanisms of change). Sources of Strength trains diverse high school students as Peer Leaders, who conduct school-wide prevention messaging activities with ongoing adult mentoring designed to increase positive coping norms and practices, help-seeking and increase youth-adult connections. Sources of Strength is expected to enhance school coping practices, increase help-seeking among distressed and suicidal youth, and reduce the number of students in the population who attempt suicide. A total of 40 high schools in primarily rural and micropolitan regions of New York State and North Dakota will participate in this study that uses a randomized wait-listed design.
