High Voltage VS Standard Voltage Radiofrequency in a Patient With Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

NeuralgiaFailed Back Surgery Syndrome

Postoperative lumbar spine pain syndrome (FBSS) refers to patients who have undergone surgery for lumbar spine disease one or more times and still have intractable lumbosacral pain after surgery, with or without lower limb sensory and motor dysfunction. Pain is the main reason for reducing patients' quality of life. Hussain and Erdek believe that despite up to 3 months of postoperative intervention, pain may still exist. Since persistent pain seriously affects patients' daily life and work, optimizing the FBSS treatment plan and improving the quality of life of FBSS patients cannot be ignored. At present, the treatment methods for neuropathic pain radiated to the lower extremity after lumbar spine surgery mainly include oral drug therapy, nerve block, pulsed radio frequency (PRF) and spinal cord electrical stimulation, and other minimally invasive interventional methods. Still, there is no domestic or foreign treatment method is reported in the literature to be effective.

FMT for Post-acute COVID-19 Syndrome

Post-Acute COVID19 SyndromeCOVID-19

In recovered COVID-19 patients, emerging global data have reported the presence of long COVID, that is, at least one symptom that an alternative diagnosis cannot explain has been persistent for four or more weeks after the initial infection. We demonstrated previously that almost 80% of recovered COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong suffer from Long COVID for more than 6 months, affecting multiple body systems. In a recent study, the five most common Long COVID symptoms were fatigue, memory problem, difficulty sleeping, anxiety and hair loss. One promising hypothesis is the involvement of the gut microbiota, a collection of the trillions of gut microorganisms that play important immunomodulatory roles against infections. Faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), which is the infusion of processed faeces from healthy donors to the gut of affected subjects, has shown impressive therapeutic effects for recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection and other emerging indications. Gut microorganisms together with the metabolites in the donated faeces could potentially modulate the gut microbiota of the recipient and treat the dysbiosis associated with pathological health conditions. To date, no study has yet to assess the therapeutic effects of FMT in post-COVID-19 neuropsychiatric conditions.

The Effect of Different Molecular Weight of HA for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Recently, nerve hydrodissection is utilized to assist ultrasound-guided nerve injection and studies recommend its clinical benefit for peripheral entrapment neuropathy. Hyaluronic acid (HA) can decrease the post-surgery adhesion of soft tissue and nerve but its clinical application in clinical practice is very rare. We just proved that single HA injection have short-term effectiveness in mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel (CTS) cases and this finding may hint the therapeutic effectiveness of nerve hydrodissection for CTS depend on absorption time of solution. In addition, no study compare different weight of HA for nerve injection so far. Hence, the purpose of this study aim to compare different weight of HA for CTS and whether hydrodissection effect depend on the absorption time of solution or not.

Tamibarotene Plus Azacitidine in Participants With Newly Diagnosed RARA-positive Higher-Risk Myelodysplastic...

Myelodysplastic Syndromes

This study compares the efficacy of Tamibarotene in combination with azacitidine to azacitidine in combination with placebo in participants who are Retinoic Acid Receptor Alpha (RARA) positive, and newly diagnosed with higher-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (HR-MDS), and who have not received treatment for this diagnosis. The primary goal of the study is to compare the complete remission rate between the two treatment arms.

A 3-day Course for CFS/ME

Chronic Fatigue SyndromeMyalgic Encephalomyelitis

Chronic fatigue syndrome/Myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) can be a serious and disabling condition with a heavy symptom burden and low function. Work disability is common, and social life dramatically affected. CFS/ME is a challenging health problem as well as a societal problem. In recent years, a doubling of the number of patients with a CFS/ME diagnoses has been reported in Norway. The patient group represents a challenge for the health care system, the municipality, and the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Organization (NAV). According to new figures, the NAV pays 100 million Norwegian Kroner (NOK) each month in permanently incapacitated expenses for people with CFS/ME. Municipalities have expenses in form of care, rehabilitation and other measures. There is a lack of effective treatment for CFS/ME. Evidence-based knowledge is highly needed. If the 3-day course shows promising effects, this could have positive consequences for patients, relatives and health personnel, but also financially for the society and the municipality.

90Y-DOTA-anti-CD25 Basiliximab, Fludarabine, Melphalan, and Total Marrow and Lymphoid Irradiation...

Acute Lymphoblastic LeukemiaAcute Myeloid Leukemia2 more

This phase I trial is to find out the best dose, possible benefits and/or side effects of 90Y-DOTA-anti-CD25 basiliximab given together with fludarabine, melphalan, and total marrow and lymphoid irradiation (TMLI) in treating patients with high-risk acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome. 90Y-DOTA-anti-CD25 basiliximab is a monoclonal antibody, called basiliximab, linked to a radioactive agent called 90Y-DOTA. Basiliximab attaches to CD25 positive cancer cells in a targeted way and delivers 90Y-DOTA to kill them. Fludarabine and melphalan are common chemotherapy drugs used to prepare the bone marrow to receive transplanted cells. TMLI is a different type of targeted radiation therapy used to prepare the bone marrow to receive transplanted cells. Giving 90Y-DOTA-anti-CD25 basiliximab together with fludarabine, melphalan, and TMLI may help prepare the bone marrow to receive the transplanted cells for improved transplant outcomes in patients with acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome.
