Pelvic and Hip Morphometry in Piriformis Syndrome

Piriformis Muscle SyndromeAnthropometry

In this case-control study, 23 patients diagnosed as PS by diagnostic injection with ultrasound guidance were selected as the study group. 22 patients who were excluded from the diagnosis of PS and had anteroposterior (AP) direct radiographic imaging were evaluated as the control group. On the AP Pelvic graph, the femoral neck-shaft angle, the distances between predetermined bony landmarks were measured blindly without knowing the diagnosis, and the findings were compared statistically. This study aims to evaluate whether the anatomical structure of the pelvis predisposes to the etiopathogenesis of the piriformis syndrome.

Hydration Based on Thoitaine, Aloe Vera and Calendula, in the Prevention of Hand-Foot Syndrome in...

Hand-foot Syndrome

Hand-foot syndrome (HFS) is a very common adverse event of many chemotherapeutic agents, especially capecitabine. The HFS can considerably interfere patient quality of life (QoL). The current treatments for hand-foot symptoms no have demonstrated 100% efficacy. And, the dose reduction and treatment interruption are recommended for treatment of HFS. It is known that hydration improves the degree of hand-foot syndrome, as it improves moisture retention and maintain hydration, thereby reducing further desquamation and decreasing infection risks. But so far there is no evidence of a cream that improves incidence. Besides that, clinical trials evaluating the use of urea-based moisturizer in patients treated with capecitabine have not shown efficacy in preventing hand-foot syndrome. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of moisturizer based on Thoitaine, Aloe Vera and Calendula compared to placebo in the prevention of SMP of any degree, in patients using Capecitabine.

Follicular Fluid Raman Shifts and IVF Outcomes

Polycystic Ovary SyndromeIVF

This study intends to collect about 150 cases of follicular fluid samples from PCOS and non-PCOS infertility patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles (in clinical routines). We tend to detect Raman metabolic profile of the follicular fluid of the PCOS and non-PCOS groups, and find the correlation between the metabolic profile of the follicular fluid of PCOS patients and the oocyte quality, IVF outcome and subsequent embryo development are also under investigation. Metabolomics analysis was applied to look for markers of follicular fluid in PCOS patients, and further exploring data and strategies to improve the embryonic development potential and IVF outcome of PCOS patients.

Research Protocol for Karuna Labs Inc.: Safety and Efficacy of Virtual Reality Graded Motor Imagery...

Chronic PainLow Back Pain7 more

The purpose of this study is to investigate, in two phases: (1) the feasibility and safety of Virtual Embodiment Therapy in treating chronic pain of lower back and upper limbs and (2) the efficacy of Virtual Embodiment Therapy on chronic pain disorders of the lower back and upper limbs. In phase 1, we will investigate the feasibility, safety, and side effects related to this treatment by assessing simulator sickness. In phase 2, which in contingent on successful completion of phase 1, we will assess symptoms of pain specific to the region treated, fear and avoidance behavior, and depression symptoms before and after 8 sessions of treatment with Virtual Embodiment Therapy in order to assess efficacy. This study will be single-blinded, because the participation of the clinician is necessary to ensure proper administration of the therapy, as well as to monitor in the event of adverse reactions.

Long Term Monitoring for Risk of Sudden Death

Inherited Cardiac ArrhythmiasLong QT Syndrome3 more

Risk prediction in in inherited heart rhythm conditions that may cause sudden cardiac arrest or death is difficult. Sometimes the risks may be low but the loss of life in an otherwise healthy young individual is catastrophic. Clinicians often treat to the extreme to prevent this and so often those at unknown risk for a serious cardiac event are treated with an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) to protect against sudden death even though the risk is low or unknown. ICDs them selves are not without adverse events such as needing battery replacements, mechanical complications, inappropriate shocks and body image and self esteem issues for the patient. This study will use an inject able monitor that is less invasive to monitor inherited heart rhythm patients long term to help gather long term heart rhythm data (3 years) on patients with an inherited heart rhythm that will help to detect symptoms of dangerous heart rhythms so that the appropriate care can be provided.

Study of Safety and Immunogenicity of BVRS-GamVac-Combi

MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome)MERS

The Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) was identified in 2012 during the first Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) outbreak. MERS-CoV causes an acute lower-respiratory infection in humans, with a fatality rate of ~34.5%. The aim of the study is to assess the safety and immunogenicity of heterologous adenoviral-based vaccine against MERS - BVRS-GamVac-Combi.

TyG Index Levels in Klinefelter Syndrome

Cardiac EventKlinefelter Syndrome1 more

It is well known that the frequency of cardiometabolic diseases are increased in patients with Klinefelter Syndrome. The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) is a simple surrogate marker of insulin resistance and is also associated with various cardiometabolic diseases. The aim of this study to investigate the TyG index levels and its relationship with insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction in patients with KS.
