Anti-Mullerian Hormone as Predictor of Ovarian Responce to Clomiphene Citrate in PCOS

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is found in 5% to 6% of women of reproductive age. It affects women's reproductive capability; thus patients have risks of infertility, miscarriage, and complicated pregnancy. A study revealed that the prevalence of oligoovulation or anovulation in patients with PCOS ranged from 65% to 80%. Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is an important regulator in the ovary that play a rule during development and function. It is suspected to affect clomiphene citrate (cc) resistance. In this study the investigator will assess the accuracy of AMH prediction of response to cc in women with PCOS.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

In this observational case-control study investigators aimed to assess the serum levels of adipokines such as Apelin, Chemerin and adiponectin in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and compare it with healthy controls. Furthermore, investigators evaluated the possible correlation of these adipokines with IBS-QoL, IBSSS, GI symptoms and other clinical and psychological disorders.

Psychopathological Differences Between Asperger Syndrome and Schizotypal Disorder in an Adult Sample...

Asperger SyndromeAutism Spectrum Disorder1 more

The purpose of this study is to identify psychopathology (psychiatric symptoms) that can differentiate between Schizotypal Disorder (SD) and Asperger Syndrome (normal IQ, no language impairment Autism Spectrum Disorder) (AS) in young adults. With our present knowledge, the differentiation between AS and SD can be difficult, as they both present with social difficulties, odd (but not psychotic) behaviour, and a 'feeling of not being as everyone else'. Studies suggest that adults with AS symptoms are either overlooked, or diagnosed within the schizophrenia spectrum in Adult Psychiatry. A 'correct' diagnosis is important, as it is the first step towards the most optimal plan, treatment and rehabilitation for the patient. The only way to diagnose psychiatric illness is the description of present psychopathology. To identify symptoms that can differentiate between the two disorders, we will use semi-structured interviews to explore present psychopathology in young adults with typical symptoms of SD and AS respectively, with special focus on presence of alterations in self-experience. Alterations in self-experience are typical for the schizophrenia spectrum, and are therefore not thought to be equally present in AS and SD. The hypotheses are that the total level of altered experiences is higher in SD, than in AS, and with a different pattern of altered experiences in SD than in AS. If the hypotheses are true, an examination of altered self-experience will be valuable to aid clinical differentiation between the two disorders.

Efficiency of a Phone Coaching for Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome Patients

Sleep Apnea Syndromes

Background: Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) remains the reference treatment for moderate to severe forms of the Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome (SAHS). Compliance to the treatment appears to be a key factor to improving health status of these patients. Methods: The investigators conducted a multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled, parallel group trial of standard support completed or not within 3 months of coaching sessions for newly diagnosed SAHS patients starting CPAP therapy. The coaching session consisted of 5 sessions of telephone-based counseling by competent staff. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients using CPAP more than 3 hours per night for 4 months; the secondary outcome was mean hours of CPAP usage in the 2 groups.

Depressed AIRE Gene Expression Causes Immune Cell Dysfunction & Autoimmunity in Down Syndrome

Down SyndromePolyendocrinopathies3 more

This study plans to learn more about Down syndrome. The investigators think there is a different level of the AIRE gene in individuals with Down syndrome. The investigators think that the AIRE gene level can provide more insight about depressed immune cell function in individuals with Down syndrome. Patients are being asked to be in this research study because the investigators want to see if their blood contains more of less of the AIRE gene.
