Treatment of Early Phase Achilles Tendinopathy - the Effect of NSAIDs

Tendon InjuriesAchilles Tendinopathy1 more

this study evaluates the addition of initial short term NSAID treatment to physiotherapy prescribed exercise treatment in patient with early phase tendinopathy. Half of the participants will initially receive NSAID (naproxen) for 7 days, while the other half will receive a placebo, where after both groups will be subjected to 3 months heavy slow resistance training.

Radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy Versus Platelet-rich Plasma Injection for Greater Trochanteric...

Gluteal TendinopathyGreater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS), is characterised by pain around the greater trochanter. Failure of first-line management for GTPS is followed by second-line treatments range from extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), corticosteroid or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, and surgery. In a systematic reviews, PRP seems a viable effective and safe alternative option for GTPS after failed physical therapy. Also, positive results from previous systematic reviews involving radial ESWT (rESWT) as a treatment for GTPS. In the literature review, there is no comparison of the effectiveness of ESWT and PRP injection in patients with GTPS. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of rESWT and PRP injection on pain, hip disability, and quality of life in patients with GTPS

The Effect of Infrapatellar Strap Treatment on Pain Extent and Athletic Measures in Young Athletes...

Patellar TendonitisJumper's Knee1 more

The purpose of this study is: To examine the effect of infra patellar strap treatment on the extent of pain and jumping performance tasks in young male athletes diagnosed with patellar tendinopathy. 40 elite male athletes, basketball and volleyball players, ages 14-18, students of the academy for sports Excellency will take part in this study Hypothesis 1: The treatment of infra patellar strap will reduce the level of pain during jumping performance tasks. Hypothesis 2: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the squat jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during squat jump task. Hypothesis 3: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the drop jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during drop jump task. Hypothesis 4: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the one leg jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during one leg jump task. Hypothesis 5: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the 30 seconds repetitive jumps mean height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during 30 seconds repetitive jumps task.

Effect of Distal Needling on Knee Pain Using Acupuncture Techniques

Patellar TendonitisComplete Tear2 more

The purpose of this study is to test if specific therapeutic benefits of acupuncture are mostly attributable to contextual and psychosocial factors, such as patients' beliefs and expectations. The investigators propose using the 2 acupuncture methods, which refrains from inserting needles in the affected area, in order to evaluate the short-term and long-term efficacy of acupuncture in a clinical setting compared with placebo and compared with invasive needling that does not adhere to "correct" acupuncture rules.

Tele-Rehabilitation Pilot Evaluation Study

FracturesBone9 more

A proof of concept randomized controlled trial (RCT) only evaluated the National University of Singapore's (NUS) T-Rehab tele-rehabilitation (TR) system at a home setting where rehabilitation was provided on an individual level. The previous RCT was also limited to stroke patients. In addition to stroke, there are many other conditions (such as fractures, lower limb joint replacement, musculoskeletal conditions) require and benefit from rehabilitation. The primary aims of the pilot evaluation study are: (i) To document patient adherence to TR, compared to usual care (ii) To estimate the extent to which TR improves functional status, compared to usual care and (iii) To estimate the cost effectiveness of TR, compared to usual care in eight different health conditions in Singapore.

Effects of Peritendinous Corticosteroid Injections, Eccentric Training and Heavy Slow Resistance...

Patellar Tendinopathy / Jumpers Knee

We will investigate the effect of peritendinous corticosteroid injections, eccentric training and heavy resistance training in male patellar tendinopathy patients. The purpose is to compare the clinical effect of these three treatments in a randomised controlled trial. Also we wish to investigate the treatment mechanisms responsible for the effectiveness of the three treatments.

Functional Improvement and UTC of the Achilles Tendon After Sodium Hyaluronate Injection for Plantaris...

Plantaris Friction SyndromeNon-Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy

This is a study to assess the benefit of sodium hyaluronate (Ostenil) injection for plantaris friction syndrome (PFS) associated with midportion Achilles tendinopathy. Functional outcome scores will be recorded prior to treatment and at regular intervals up to 2 years. Changes in tendon structure will be assessed using ultrasonographic tissue characterisation (UTC). UTC will be performed prior to treatment and also at regular intervals up to 6 months following injection.
