Lipofilling for Healing of Chronic Wounds

Wound Healing Disorder

Chronic wounds remain a therapeutic and financial challenge for physicians and the health care systems. Innovative, cheap and effective treatment methods would be of immense value. The sublesional fat grafting could be such treatment, although the effectiveness and safety have not been assessed in large randomized clinical trials. The aim of this trial was to analyse the effect of adipose tissue on the healing of chronic lower leg wounds. For this purpose, the wounds were surgically cleaned (wound debridement) and then fat was suctioned out from the stomach or thighs and then injected into the edges of the wound and under the wounds. The wounds are covered with a foam dressing that is changed every 3-4 days. There are controls on days 3, 7, 14 and 21 after the intervention and a follow-up examination 2 months after the intervention. The primary objective is the reduction of the wound area 14 days and 2 month after intervention. Secondary objectives are pain level of the wound, bacterial colonialisation of the wound and analysis of the grafted fat tissue (ammount of mesenchymal stem cells)

Class iv Versus Class Iiib Laser Therapy on Median Sternotomy Healing After Coronary Artery Bybass...

WoundWound Heal1 more

LASER therapy is potent physiotherapy modalities, providing better sternotomy healing for patients who have undergone CABG surgery, compared with traditional wound care management alone. HLLT and LLLT were found to be the most effective methods for sternotomy healing post-CABG surgery, with HLLT offering superior performance in the case of the high deep penetration and significance less time needed to deliver the same joules/ cm compared to LLLT used for the wound site.

Prognostic Value of Pediatric GCS-Pupil Score in Pediatric Patients With Traumatic Brain Injury...

Brain InjuriesTraumatic

There are studies reporting that the survival rate in pediatric patients with abnormal pupillary response is 23% and that pupillary response is effective on mortality and patient outcomes. Studies in the literature examining the effect of pupillary response on mortality and outcome in pediatric patients with traumatic brain injury reported that bilaterally dilated pupils were associated with a higher mortality rate. Considering the literature results, we believe that obtaining the GCS-Pupil score by combining GCS and pupillary reaction in pediatric patients with traumatic brain injury will be effective in predicting patient outcomes.

ERECTOR SPINE PLANE BLOCK VERSUS LOCAL INFILTRATION ANAESTHESIA FOR TRANSFORAMINAL PERCUTANEOUS...

Acute PainChronic Pain13 more

The main aim of our study was to test the hypothesis that Erector spine plane block (ESP) with sedation will provide the similar employment of fentanyl and propofol during surgery as an infiltrative local anaesthesia with sedation. The primary endpoint was the quantity of fentanyl and propofol during surgery.

Effectiveness of Basketball Pre-injury Attack Program to Reduce the Susceptibility of Injury in...

Injury;SportsBiomechanical Lesions2 more

Basketball is an impact, coordination-opposition sport with continuous contact among players and it is considered a sport of medium-high injury incidence. Players are force to have a physical condition appropriate to their practice and the demand to which they must respond due to the intensity of the efforts this sport requires. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to establish an evaluation protocol that allows the detection of functional deficiencies, to guide and conduct in a specific and early way every moment of players' health and growth. The purpose of this study is to design, apply and analyze the effectiveness of a specific and individualized therapeutic exercise program (Basketball Pre-injury Attack) based on the approach of the functional deficiencies detected by the Basketball Injury Defense, to reduce the susceptibility to injury of youth basketball players (U14 - U17).

Safety and Usability of the STELO Exoskeleton in People With Acquired Brain Injury and Spinal Cord...

Spinal Cord InjuryAcquired Brain Injury

Gait impairment in people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and spinal cord injury (SCI) can be very heterogeneous. For this reason, STELO has been developed: a new concept of exoskeleton based on modular technology for gait assistance. It allows a personalised configuration according to the functional capacity of each patient, as the therapist can choose which robotic joints to use depending on the therapeutic goal and on the patient recovery phase. The objective is to analyse the usability of the STELO modular exoskeleton in people with ABI and SCI.

Developing a Deliberate Practice Intervention to Recalibrate Physician Heuristics in Trauma Triage...

Trauma Injury

The objective of this study is to test the feasibility of using deliberate practice - goal-oriented training in the presence of a coach who can provide personalized, immediate feedback - to increase engagement. The research design involves recruitment of a national convenience sample of board-certified emergency physicians who will serve as trainees (n=30), pairing of the trainees with a coach, delivery of three 30-minute coaching sessions using the existing games as the training task, and assessment of the effect of the combined intervention on performance in the laboratory. The specific aims are: To assess the fidelity of intervention delivery by measuring coaching skill acquisition, coaching skill drift and protocol adherence. To assess the potential effect size of the intervention by comparing trainee performance on a validated virtual simulation with a control group of physicians (n=30). To assess the acceptability of the intervention by using a mixture of validated instruments and semi-structured debriefing interviews with trainees to assess their engagement with the intervention.
