Testing the Effectiveness of Adolescent Depression Prevention Programs (The OregonBlues Study)
DepressionThis study will test the effectiveness of two programs for preventing depression in adolescents.

Early Intervention for Youth at Risk for Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar DisorderMajor Depressive DisorderChildren or teens with mood swings or depression who have a parent with bipolar disorder are at high risk for developing bipolar disorder themselves. This study will test a family-based therapy aimed at preventing or reducing the early symptoms of bipolar disorder in high-risk children (ages 9-17). In a randomized trial, the investigators will compare two kinds of family-based treatment (one more and one less intensive) on the course of early mood symptoms and social functioning among high-risk children followed for up to 4 years. The investigators will examine the effects of family treatment on measures of neural activation using functional magnetic resonance imaging.

Multimodal Assessment of Neurobiological Markers for Psychiatric Disorders
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)Anxiety DisorderMAN-BIOPSY pursues the concrete research question whether novel biological and psycho-physiological clusters or categories can be defined to improve treatment and minimize side effects in psychiatry, based on a synopsis of physiological, behavioural, genetic and endocrinological parameters. One major aspect of our research approach is its focuses on the identification of dysfunctions in fundamental information processing mechanisms and neurocomputational mechanisms, and is not restricted to symptom-oriented tasks. The main objectives of MAN-BIOPSY are therefore to identify biological and psycho-physiological parameters for major depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, and to identify predictive markers for treatment response and type/severity of side effects for these disorders.

Depression Prevention Program for American Indian Adolescents During and After Pregnancy
DepressionPregnancyThis study will determine the effectiveness of the "Living in Harmony" depression prevention program in preventing depressive symptoms among pregnant American Indian adolescents during pregnancy and after giving birth.

Effectiveness of Supplemental Calcium in Preventing Postpartum Depression
DepressionDepression1 moreThis study will evaluate the effectiveness of taking supplemental calcium while pregnant in reducing the risk of postpartum depression.

Efficacy and Safety of Escitalopram for Prevention of Depression Induced by Peg-Interferon in Hepatitis...
Major Depressive DisorderHepatitis C1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of an antidepressant (escitalopram) can prevent depressive episodes that appear during the treatment with peg-interferon and ribavirin in patients with chronic hepatitis C.

Can Additional Drug Therapy Accelerate Response Time to Antidepressants
DepressionAntidepressants are commonly prescribed and are effective for treating depression. However, they generally take 4-6 weeks for a therapeutic response. This study is evaluating whether simultaneous treatment with thyroid hormone or pindolol can decrease the response time ("getting better faster") in patients who are starting SSRI treatment.

Preventing Post-Stroke Depression
DepressionCerebrovascular AccidentThis study will evaluate the effectiveness of both drug and non-drug treatments in preventing depression after a stroke.

Prevention of Depression in At-Risk Adolescents
DepressionThis study examines the impact of a group cognitive behavioral program aimed at preventing depressive disorders and symptoms in adolescents at risk for developing depression.

Efficacy and Safety of TAK-653 in Treatment-Resistant Depression
Treatment-Resistant DepressionThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of TAK-653 compared with placebo in maintaining the effect of ketamine treatment on depressive symptoms.
