Involvement of Viral Infections in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Lymphocytic Thyroiditis
Autoimmune DiseasesChronic Lymphocytic ThyroiditisAutoimmune diseases represent a heterogeneous group of pathologies whose etiopathogenic mechanisms are most often unknown. Autoimmune diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in young women and autoimmune thyroid diseases are the most common. Viral infections are the main environmental factors suspected of triggering autoimmune diseases. Several viruses are certainly involved, all of which are possibly capable of triggering an autoimmune response. However, the precise identification of the viruses involved remains to be established. It has been shown for the first time by the 2005 PHRC that enteroviral RNA is present in perioperative specimens of thyroid tissue. However, this case-control study did not show any difference between the thyroid group and the group other thyroid pathologies It has been recently published that Parvovirus is possibly involved in thyroiditis: the parvoviral genome is present in the thyroid tissue of Hashimoto thyroiditis operated and more precisely is present within the thyrocytes itself.
Early Risk Stratification of Patient Hospitalized for SARS-CoV2 Infection: Critical COVID-19 France...
Infection ViralInfection2 moreThe COVID-19 pandemic of SARS CoV2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, COVID-19) infection, which is currently evolving in France, raises many questions about the clinical and biological profile of infected hospitalized patients. If certain biological factors like troponin, BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptid), or clinical factors like cardiovascular history or oncological history are associated with a worse prognosis, available data comes from studies in Asia for the majority, or including a limited number of patients. Patient stratification remains a major issue for patient sorting and early referral of patients.

Consequences of a Maternal-fetal Chikungunya Virus Infection
Chikungunya Virus InfectionChikungunya is an infectious disease caused by an alphavirus transmitted by the Aedes mosquitoes which has known a worldwide expansion since its re-emergence in 2004. Regarding to an unprecedented epidemic, Reunionese pediatricians described in 2005-2006 a vertical maternal-fetal transmission of this virus, at the time of childbirth. Since then, this mode of transmission has been widely confirmed, with an absolute risk estimated between 15.5% and 48.3%. The main consequences for the child are neuromotor, neurosensory or neurocognitive. They were studied around the age of 2 in 33 children in the CHIMERE cohort, as well as at the age of 5 in a small fraction of these children followed at the C.A.M.S.P (Center for Early Medico-Social Action). The results suggested an overall delay in psychomotor acquisitions secondary to neonatal infection, affecting the functions of the prefrontal region (in particular coordination and language). Performance was correlated with the severity of the clinical presentation (more severe in case of encephalitis or encephalopathy) while remaining suboptimal in children with uncomplicated infection. During neurodevelopmental monitoring, other disturbing traits complemented the spectrum of problems presented by these children, such as microcephaly, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, interaction disorder or attention deficit disorder. At around age 10, the investigators reassessed 21 of these children using the Childhood Cognitive Function and Learning (EDA) screening test. The investigators would now like to confirm and characterize their impairments using a battery of confirmatory tests around the age of 13.
The Epidemiology, Management, and the Associated Burden of Related Conditions in Alopecia Areata...
Alopecia AreataDepressive Episode34 moreThis study series consists of four related studies and aims to explore and describe many important elements of alopecia areata over three key areas: (1) the current epidemiology of alopecia areata, (2) the prevalence and incidence of psychiatric co-morbidities in people with alopecia areata, (3) the prevalence and incidence of autoimmune and atopic conditions in people with alopecia areata, and (4) the incidence of common infections in people with alopecia areata.
COVID-19 - SARS-CoV-2 Community Contamination in Children and Adults (Dyn3CEA_Nosocor)
Infection ViralUnlike other respiratory viruses such as influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) where the child is the essential reservoir and central vector of intrafamilial contamination, the child is likely to be a small player in the transmission of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SRAS-CoV2) infection. This study aims to describe the age category of the first contact, within 14 days before the appearance of the first symptoms of the index case in order to describe the age categories of this first contaminant, globally, in the group of children and finally in the group of adults. This work is intended to provide food for discussion and to justify the distancing and containment measures imposed on children when their isolation has a deleterious impact that has now been established for some children.
Does Hepatitis C Management Protect Egyptian Population Against Severe Corona Virus Disease-2019?...
Corona Virus InfectionHepatitisModulation of the renin angiotensin system by the chronic hepatitis C virus treatment either by (Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir), (Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir plus Ribavirin), or (Ribavirin and Interferon) protocols could give an explanation for the low incidence of COVID-19 among Egyptian population. Adding it may play a role in COVID 19 prophylaxis.

Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) in Belgium (2011-2020)
Influenza Viral InfectionsRespiratory Viral Infection1 moreThe Belgian Severe Acute Respiratory Infections network (BELSARI-net) was implemented during the influenza season 2011-2012 following the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) to monitor severity of influenza viruses in hospitals. The network is composed of 6 hospitals throughout the country, two in each administrative region (Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels-Capital), and operates during the influenza epidemic period (from the last week of December or first/second week of January to the third/last week of April, depending on when influenza virus circulation is detected by the general population, based on the Influenza-like illness (ILI) network of general practitioners). Enrollment is performed for all cases matching the SARI case definition (based on WHO's case definition) and accepting to take part. A respiratory specimen is sampled systematically from each participant, and detailed clinico-epidemiological data, such as information on age, sex, symptoms and potential risk factors such as pregnancy or comorbidities (chronic respiratory diseases, asthma, chronic cardiovascular diseases, renal insufficiency, obesity, diabetes, hepatic or renal insufficiency, immunodeficiency, neuromuscular disease, pregnancy) is also collected. Participants are followed up during hospitalization for the occurrence of complications (detection of pneumonia based on chest radiography, development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), requirement for respiratory assistance and/or for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), admission in intensive care unit (ICU)), or death (all-cause death). The current project includes all the samples received by the Belgian National Influenza Centre (NIC) during the influenza seasons 2011-2012 till 2019-2020.
Cytopenias in Hospitalized Patients of Corona Virus Infection(COVID-19) During First and Other Waves...
Corona Virus InfectionDemographic, Clinical and laboratory data as well as outcome of total 202 COVID-19 patients who were Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) positive and admitted in Fatima memorial Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan, was collected during first and other waves. Data of First wave is from May 2020 to July 2020, second wave from early November to Mid December 2020 and third wave from Mid march to June 2021. Investigator analyzed the data on basis of Systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) as well hematological parameters of First Wave were compared to other waves of COVID-19.
