A Study to Test the Efficacy and Safety of SAR442970 in Adults With Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Hidradenitis Suppurativa

This is a Phase 2 study in adult participants with moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SAR442970 compared to placebo.

The Optimal Route of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

IBS - Irritable Bowel SyndromeMicrobial Substitution

The object of this study is to find out is there an optimal route for the fecal microbiata transplant (FMT) in patients that suffer from irritable bowel syndrome. The investigators compare outcomes in patients with repeated fecal microbiome samples and make symptomatic questionnaires (i.e. IBS-SSS, GSRS) to find out if there is difference in severity of symptoms compared to FMT given in duodenogastroscopy or in coloscopy.

Phenotyping Patients With Alcohol and Cannabis Use Disorders Using the Addictions Neuroclinical...

Alcohol Use DisorderCannabis Use Disorder

Although effective evidence-based interventions have been developed for alcohol and cannabis use disorders, it is still unclear which individuals respond best to treatment. A recent model known as the Addictions Neuroclinical Assessment (ANA) proposes that assessing for differences in three neurofunctional domains (executive function, incentive salience, and negative emotionality) could allow for a stronger neuroscience-based framework for understanding heterogeneity in response to addiction treatments but this has never been tested prospectively. In this study, we will recruit two groups: (1) participants with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and (2) participants with cannabis use disorder (CUD). Participants will undergo thorough baseline assessments of each of the three ANA domains prior to evidence-based treatment for their respective disorders. Individuals with AUD will be treated with 12 weeks of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for AUD plus optional pharmacotherapy guided by a pharmacotherapy algorithm. Individuals with CUD will be treated with 12 weeks of CBT + motivational enhancement therapy for CUD. The primary objective of the study is to assess whether baseline ANA measures are associated with changes in drug consumption and craving over treatment.

Radiofrequency Treatment for Pilonidal Disease : Safety of Use, Efficacy and Patient Satisfaction...

Infected Pilonidal Sinus

Infected pilonidal sinus is a common suppuration that occurs twice as often in men as in women, usually between the ages of 15 and 30. Clinical diagnosis is easy, whether the presentation is acute or chronic. Exeresis with a wound left open requiring secondary postoperative healing is the most widely practiced technique in France because its recurrence rate is the lowest, but it has the disadvantage of requiring daily or even twice-daily local nursing care, long healing, and a break in activity. In order to limit the disadvantages of the open technique, "conservative" minimally invasive techniques have also recently been developed in response to strong patient demand: such as endoscopic treatment (EPSIT = Endoscopic Pilonidal Sinus Treatment, or VAAPS = Video-Assisted Ablation of Pilonidal Sinus), or the SiLaT (Sinus Laser Therapy) laser. More recently, radiofrequency has emerged as a new technique in the treatment of hemorrhoidal pathology according to the Rafaelo procedure as well as the Fistura procedure for anal fistulas. The principle of the treatment is similar to that of the laser, based on radio frequency thermocoagulation using very high frequency electromagnetic waves (4MHz), similar to the principle of microwaves. However, its use in the infected pilonidal sinus has not yet been described. The fibers used in anal fistulas are perfectly adapted to the treatment of the pilonidal sinus. In addition, and in contrast to the laser, several fiber diameters are available depending on the size of the fistula path(s). For example, the large diameters of 9 Fr seem to be more adapted to the deep and wide cavities of the pilonidal sinuses than those of the SiLaT, which has a single fiber diameter. The investigators can therefore think that this type of fibers could allow a more efficient destruction of the granulation tissues and a better docking of the cavity walls. According to published studies in the treatment of anal fistulas, the safety profile of this treatment is perfectly reassuring since the penetrance of the energy released does not exceed 3 mm in depth. The aim of this study is to propose a competing alternative to the SiLaT laser, which is radiofrequency according to the Fistura® procedure, by evaluating its safety, efficacy and patient satisfaction on a series of consecutive patients treated

The Effecttiveness of Intratympanic Methylprednisolon Injections Compared to Placebo in the Treatment...

Meniere Disease

Ménière's disease is an inner ear disorder in which patients suffer from attacks of vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss. To date, it is unclear what the best treatment for this condition is. Giving injections in the inner ear with the adrenal cortical hormone methylprednisolone is a treatment that is already widely used, but still there is insufficient evidence in the effectiveness of this treatment. This multicenter trial compares a patient group which receives injections of methylprednisolone to a patient group which receives placebo injections. Subsequently, dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss and quality of life will be assed and compared for the above mentioned groups, over a period of one year.

Stepped Care for Aphasia

AphasiaStroke

This study is recruiting people who had a stroke at least 1 month ago and now have a language impairment called aphasia. Living with aphasia can have devastating effects on communication and quality of life, and it is not uncommon for survivors with aphasia to face psychological problems like depression and anxiety. Participants who are eligible for this study will undergo baseline testing, engage in a 5-week treatment focused on psychological well-being, undergo post-treatment testing, and then testing again 1-month later. Check-in phone calls will be conducted during the 1-month off period and participants will be interviewed about their experience at the end of the study as well. Compensation will be provided to participants with aphasia.
