Fecal Metagenomics and Metabolomics Analyses to Identify Potential Screening Biomarkers for Colorectal...
Colorectal CancerColorectal Polyp2 moreMany previous studies had revealed that gastrointestinal microbiome is changed compositionally and ecologically in patients with colorectal cancer comparing with healthy population. These finding provide us with a new sight to take advantage of gut microbiota. The current study aims to explore new potential biomarkers for early screening and prognostic prediction of colorectal cancer and colorectal polyps by analyzing metagenomics and metabolomics of gut microbiota.

Evaluation of Clinical Features and Surgical Outcomes of the Too Long Anterior Process in Children...
Calcaneonavicular CoalitionCalcaneonavicular coalition represents approximately 1% of the population between 8 and 12 years. They are manifested by repeated ankle sprains or by pain. - The diagnosis is radiological on an X-ray of the foot in oblique-3/4 incidence as well as magnetic resonance imaging. Treatment is second-line surgery after failure of orthopedic treatment. This surgery is either by direct approach or by arthroscopy, by performing a bone resection to recreate sufficient space in the joint in question. The patients in this study will only be operated on openly.

Hypercoagulability Study Using Haemostatic Techniques in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease...
Inflammatory Bowel DiseasesThrombosis1 moreDescriptive study, in which the haemostatic profile of ambulatory patients with IBD will be analyzed by means of ROTEM and other techniques, such as the thrombin generation test and the study of platelet function by flow cytometry.

Healthy Age-dependent Reference Values for Microvascular Structure and Function
Vascular EndotheliumMicrovascular Circulation2 moreThe greatest challenge in our ageing society are cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, heart attack, peripheral artery disease of the legs with non-healing wounds (ulcers), or diabetes. How healthy ageing affects the smallest blood vessels (microcirculation) and is not well understood. One reason for this is that no generally available medical instrument has the resolution to study the microcirculation. The recently developed optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), currently mainly used by eye doctors, is able to visualise the microcirculation. We have developed an automated software (OCTAVA) to determine metrics to characterise the microcirculation on the layers of density, diameter and tortuosity. In the current study we aim at providing reference values of these metrics in hands and feet of healthy people according to age together with macrovascular function in arms and legs.

Deep Learning to Summarize Findings in Dental Panoramic Radiographs
RadiographyDigital2 moreIn this work, the investigators study the application of artificial intelligence systems on dental panoramic images for dental findings. An artificial intelligence system will be learned on an publicly available panoramic image dataset, and test against the investigators' local patient cohort as external test data. The investigators hypothesize the performance would be similar, if not identical to on the public data, and that the investigators' AI system is generalizable.

Impact of V106I on Resistance to Doravirine
HIV-1-infectionObjective. To study the impact of V106I mutation in the reverse transcriptase of HIV-1 on the activity of Doravirine. Clinical hypotheses. Doravirine shows a unique resistance pattern with a higher genetic barrier to resistance than other NNRTIs. In contrast to K103N or E138A, the prevalence of single mutations and/or combination of mutations against Doravirine is low. However, in a recent survey conducted in Spain the study investigators have found a V106Iprevalence similar to K103N and E138A. There is a clear need to understand the real impact of this mutation on Doravirine resistance.

Subjects Through the Application of the Mindera Kit Part 2
PsoriasisA 16 week study to examine if baseline or on-therapy transcriptomics can be used to help predict selection of medications and provide new therapeutic targets for drug development in psoriasis subjects.

Blood Markers for Identifying & Investigating Infection With COVID19 & Sepsis in Children.
Covid19SepsisCorona Virus Disease or COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus. There have been reports of serious COVID-19 illness in children. In addition it has been linked to clusters of children presenting with high fevers and inflammation. Sepsis, also called blood poisoning, is an abnormal response of the body to some infections. We aim to conduct research in children under 18 admitted to intensive care unit. Using a systems approach towards mapping the body's immune and metabolic responses to COVID-19 or related illnesses and compare with other sepsis like illnesses.

An Investigation Into the Relationship Between Dietary Intake and Health-related Quality of Life...
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis"Physical activity and diet in children and young people with arthritis" A qualitative study of exploring stake holder's experiences. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is the most common type of arthritis in children under the age of 16. The disease and its therapeutic management can cause serious long-term complications, which affect general activities and quality of life. The lack of specific guidelines for safe physical activity and appropriate management of any nutritional deficit aiming our study to find out your views and opinions about the needs of children and young people with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. We want to improve our knowledge about the impact of physical activity and eating habit on juvenile idiopathic arthritis and we want to develop a tool to help evaluate care. Few studies targeting quality of life and wellbeing in children adolescent populations have adopted the diet and physical activity perspective or approaches, consequently, this research project will help to address this gap through: Interview: to look at young people's current experiences with JIA as well as their parents/caregivers and health care professionals. Study findings will provide a snapshot of the current experiences of participants, helping to improve our knowledge about JIA, physical activity, and diet. Qualitative studies exploring people perspectives on their experiences, when collected systematically, adds valuable depth, insight and understanding into the issues related to JIA not possible through quantitative methodologies. This study uses a qualitative approach known as framework methodology to understand stakeholder's experience of what helps and what hinders improving the quality of life in children and young adult with JIA. 21-30 stakeholders will be recruited in Oxford UK, to take part in individual semi-structured guided interviews lasting approximately one hour. Participant responses will be transcribed by the chief investigator and analysed to extract themes that will answer the research question. Delphi study: which aims to develop a diet and physical activity intervention for children and young adult with JIA.

Validation of the QoR-15 Score for Emergency Surgery
Quality of RecoveryPerioperative Complication5 moreRecovery from surgery is a complex process, depending on the characteristics of the patient, the anesthesia used, and the time required for surgical management. In the context of emergency surgery, the perioperative period is associated with an increase in morbidity and mortality, which may lead us to suspect an alteration in the quality of recovery. Different scales to measure the quality of post-operative recovery have been developed. The QoR-40 and QoR-15 questionnaires assess recovery after elective surgery. These scoring tools accurately measure postoperative recovery by addressing key domains: pain, physical comfort, physical independence, psychological support and emotional state. Their use is recommended as an endpoint for assessing patient comfort in clinical trials, according to the Standardized Endpoints in Perioperative Medicine (StEP) initiative. In addition, monitoring of the QoR-15 is recommended by the American Society for Enhanced Recovery. A recent French translation of the QoR-15 score has been validated for use in scheduled surgery. All of these scores, regardless of the language in which they are translated, have been developed and validated in patients who have undergone scheduled surgery. Until now, no validated scoring tool has been available to assess recovery after emergency surgery, whether traumatological or not.
