Computer Guided Screw Holes Locating Guide and Custom-made Plates
Mandibular FracturesPreoperative CT. Virtual reduction of broken segments on software. Gain occlusion. Design surgical screw holes locating guide. Design the custom-made plates. Print the screw holes locating guide and the custom-made plate. under general anesthesia the parasymphseal fracture will be reduced using screw holes locating guide and the custom-made plates.
Application of CAD-CAM Technology in Orbital Bone Reconstruction
Orbital Bone FractureMaxillary Cyst4 moreReconstruction of orbital defects resulting after trauma; tumor resection; maxillary cyst; craniofacial anomalies and sequestrated bone…. etc., has been a challenging issue over the years and this owing to the complicated anatomy of orbit. Inaccurate orbital reconstruction may lead to devastating cosmetic and functional complications. Titanium mesh for orbital reconstruction has now become "probably" the most popular material for orbital wall reconstruction worldwide. Innovation of CAD-CAM technology and its application in maxillofacial surgery will markedly improve the surgical outcome. This study will assess the accuracy of orbital reconstruction using CAD-CAM technology and to compare two different modalities for orbital reconstruction based on this technology.
Four or Six Weeks of Immobilization in the Conservative Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures in...
Distal Radius FractureThe purpose of this study is to compare if there are differences in wrist function and pain after a distal radius fracture treated conservatively with immobilization for 4 or 6 weeks in elderly patients after six months of follow-up.
Randomized Control Trial, Cryoablation as an Adjunct to Surgical Stabilization of Rib Fractures...
PainPostoperative1 moreTo determine if patients with intraoperative cryoablation have better analgesia results compared to the control group of Surgical Stabilization of Rib Fractures (SSRF) without cryoablation
Evaluation of STIMULAN Device and AI Model in Preventing Fracture Infections
Open FractureThis is a prospective, single-center, double-blind randomized clinical trial aimed at evaluating the efficacy and safety of the extended-release antibiotic device, STIMULAN, in preventing infections in patients with open fractures. The study will enroll 40 patients from IRCSS San Raffaele's Emergency Department and Orthopedics and Traumatology Unit. Patients will be stratified into high-risk and low-risk infectious subgroups and randomized into either the intervention group receiving the antibiotic device or the control group receiving no device. The follow-up period will last for 5 days, with data collection at specified intervals. Standard laboratory tests will be utilized to monitor the patient's inflammatory response.
Graded Motor Imagery for Women at Risk for Developing Type I CRPS Following Closed Treatment of...
Musculoskeletal PainFractures3 moreNearly 2 out of 10 women will sustain a distal forearm fracture throughout their lifespan.Recent longitudinal studies illustrate that as many as 1/3 of all persons who undergo closed reduction and casting for distal radius fractures (DRF) go on to develop type 1 complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Graded motor imagery (i.e., motor imagery and mirror therapy), a movement representation technique, is strongly supported in the literature as a treatment of CRPS and has recently been suggested as a potential strategy to prevent its onset. Other complications include disability, wrist/forearm tightness and sensorimotor changes. The investigators propose that an early intervention protocol which includes graded motor imagery (GMI) will improve the pain, functional and upper limb sensorimotor outcomes of persons following closed reduction and casting of DRF relative to a standard of care intervention.
Intramedullary Bone Grafting for Open Tibial Shaft Fractures
Tibial FracturesNonunion of Fracture1 moreThis study will examine if there is a difference between the time to full union between the control group and the study group. Each group will be composed of patients who have an open fracture in the mid tibia. Both groups will undergo primary fixation via reamed intramedulary nailing (IMN), a common treatment for tibia shaft fractures in adults. The study group will have a bone graft applied to the open cortex of the fracture. The bone graft will be composed of the intramedullary reamings, which are a byproduct produced when the intramedullary canal is reamed in preparation for insertion of the IMN.
Dexmedetomidine Supplemented Analgesia and Delirium After Hip Fracture Surgery
ElderlyHip Fracture Surgery3 moreDelirium is common in the elderly after hip fracture surgery, and is associated with worse outcomes. The investigators hypothesize that, for elderly patients after hip fracture surgery, dexmedetomidine supplemented analgesia can reduce the incidence of delirium and improve the long-term outcomes.
Zoledronate Early to Hip Fracture Patients - Safe and Effective?
Hip FracturesOsteoporosisTo prevent hip fracture patients for having another fracture, secondary fracture preventing medication should be given as soon as possible. Zoledronate is the most efficient bisphosphonate and is given as an intravenous infusion once yearly. However, the appropriate time to initiate zoledronate treatment after a hip fracture has not yet been established. To clarify the optimal timing of zoledronate to hip fracture patients we have designed a double-blinded, placebo-controlled randomized non-inferiority trial to compare if zoledronate administered early (within 5 days) after hip fracture surgery is as good as zoledronate given late (3 months) after hip fracture surgery.
Fracture Recovery for Returning to Duty (Teriparatide STRONG)
Stress Fracture of Tibia or FibulaThe project goals are to improve combat readiness of U.S. Soldiers and sustain the availability of the military to deploy by, 1) decreasing the number of days not physically ready for duty after diagnosis of a diaphyseal tibial stress fracture, 2) decreasing the need for a physical profile or medical discharge board after bone stress injury, and 3) decreasing the recurrence rates of bone stress injuries.
